Sorry if it translated incorrectly but..

Allegedly circuit boards with Parhelia would permit the link of three displays!

Where did they get this info from? Even more importantly why would anyone want 3 displays? I suppose if this is true then its a case of "Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you".

Well, i could have connected two monitors and my TV (with DVDmax!)...
      main system: P4 Northwood 2.0 @ 2.5GHz, Asus P4PE (LAN + Audio onboard), 512MB Infineon PC333 CL2.5, Sapphire/BBA Radeon 9500@9700 128MB (hardmodded), IBM 100GB ATA-100, 17" Belinea (crappy), and some other toys...ADSL (1,5mbit/s down, 256kbit/s up...sweeeeeet!)

dunno if it's true, but it would be pretty nice, if you could just hook up two VGAs while keeping your TV attached rather than having to hassle with all those adapters and plugs (namely on the G550), just because you want to watch a movie on your tele when usually having two VGAs attached ...

"According to rumours, matrox is developing a new GPU with the codename Parhelia. Thanks to extended Vertex- and Pixel shaders, the wonderchild is supposed to surpass the competitors (geforce 4, radeon 8500) in 3D-Performance. "

Well, im going to cebit anyway so i wont buy a new card before that (maybe ill win one )

doesnt the radeon 8500 (maybe only AIW??) support that already (2 vga, 1 tv)?

if not, im pretty sure tha radeon mobilty does, read it somewhere

would still be nice, although i would have to buy yet another monitor

It's either because you are short-sited, and fall for anything you read, or because Matrox could put anything out and it would be chastized by you.

well, I have now 21" main monitor but after trying two monitor layout in my 2nd computer, more than one head is must in next gfx card. But that also gives me symmetric problem. 1 21" monitor and 1 15" monitor looks wierd so I would like to prefer use all my old 15" monitors that I have left. So for me, 2x15" and 1x21" monitors would ideal. (it gives nice symmetric look: 15-21-15 )

Would be nice to play FPS games with one front display and two side ones increasing your fov. I tend to play (on one display) with fov 120 because the standard 90 is just not enough. And dual displays is not an option since the most important content (where you aim at) is "between" the two screens.

IIRC Doom supported this "3head" mode using 3 computers connected on LAN. Now you could do it on a single machine.

IIRC they removed it from doom again, it was only possibble in early beta versions like v 1.1 which AFAIK was never shipped.

however i would expect future fligth-sims to support this.

                              HAHA, 3d on 3 displays

When matrox produces a graphics card with enough horsepower to drive 3 monitors at reasonable resolutions and good detail settings playing quake 3/doom 3, I'll eat my hat

Matrox still appear to have a long way to go, and they better release something soon, before the new design they are brewing becomes yet another G550 due to lack of execution.

I am STILL BITTER over what matrox did with the G550. They still have much to prove. I wouldn't put much faith in these rumors either, since nobody knows nothing and those that do can't tell us
