  • Yeah, i heard of that too.
    It has a DVI input, but it only uses the analog part of the DVI connector.
    DVI-I i think it was...they have the digital part AND the analog signal.
    Think about the DVI output on the G550.
    I have an analog flat panel attached to it with a DVI -> analog adapter, so the analog signal is there.

    • It only uses the analog pins of th DVI-I connector; it's called DVI-A. so it's an analog only monitor; anyway, with an electron tube, it's impossible to have a true digital display like with an lcd...
      What was necessary was done yesterday;
      We're currently working on the impossible;
      For miracles, we ask for a 24 hours notice ...

        Very true, however you can move the digital to analogue conversion 'closer' to the screen by moving it from the board to within the monitor. That way you can eliminate analogue noise that could be picked up in the computer or in the signal cable, and then you only have to worry about noise picked up in the monitor. However, I'm not really sure how effective it would be - still, it ought to mean that an nvidia and a matrox gave the same image quality....

        • A very good example of how the RamDAC speed has nothing to do with display-quality can be seen at ATI: The R8500 (with 400MHz DAC) is in fact a bit worse quality-wise than the old Radeon or the 7500 (350MHz DAC).
          Sad, but true...
