Actually, I don't think they clarified if it was a Matrox unidentified card...

      (Hey look! It's a TMNT! )

Haig said it was on an unannounced card too, over in the tech support forum.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

Pessimistic, the ONLY way to go.. you can be only positively surprised then. Well actually im pretty optimistic in life in general, but computer hardware ..

Btw, I have my doubts about ATI and NVidia too [ not too happy about these companys just making the chips, well atleast ATI still does make their own cards too ]. I dont discriminate just the companys Nappe loves... In fact this is my first ATI card and i have never owned a NVidia product. But atleast those companys have a product out that kicks ass.

But i have to admit that the graphics market is finally looking EXCITING. What i have have heard ATI allready has R300 ready, but they wont launch it untill Microsoft gets DX9 out [ rumors rumors ], pretty sure that NVidia is making a new card too, GF4 just wont cut it when the new wave of cards hit the street. And i would love to see Matrox up there too. All the other candidates .. well lets just say i dont think that they have a real chance to produce anything.. well maybe PowerVR has the right idea, but i only expect them to produce another low[-mid]end/lowcost card.. witch is great for the industry.

Oh, just remebered one other thing that i REALLY hate.

A while back someone was thinking about getting a $50-80 card [ scraping to get that money together ] and these same people who allready SAID in posts before that the new matrox card will cost a LOT.. come there and post, NO dont buy [add card here], wait and get Matrox nextgen.. and comment like you will regret if you buy [add card here].

Yeah, wait and while waiting go and rob a bank ? If someone is going to spend less than $100 to a card how the hell he/she would have the money to buy that nextgen matrox ? Use COMMON SENCE when giving out these "instructions". Even if the Matrox new card will be blazing fast and best card out there its SURELY not for everyone, if its priced like i think it will be...

Most of us have to think about VALUE.. bang for the buck.. well you know what i mean. Atleast i hope you do.

this has been said here before but let's say it once more:

I expect to see a range of cards. Not only one. From model that keeps OEMs happy to model that competes against FireGL and Quadro products.

and besides Matrox has never been cheap.

                and...

If M release a whopping fast card, other vendors has to lower their prices.

                    Too true.

With the graphics industry, always expect lower than the rumors, lower than the given specs, lower than PR midgets exclaim. Then you might actually be able to come to terms with what occurs in the real world.

In general, I am only interested in how a hardware device performs in the real world, how stable it is, how compatible it is with other devices and all operating systems, how expensive it is, and most importantly, how availible it is.

I simply cannot, and will not consider any graphics card to be good until:

                    1) It is released. Parhella is a rumor at the moemnt.
                    2) It has been verified as reasonably stable and compatible.
                    3) It has been benchmarked to verify its perfromance against a wide array of software.
                    4) It is affordable, or at least not exorbanatly overpriced for its capibilities, like some cards.
                    5) I can get it.

I may drool over card releases or anticipate the release of a new chipset or graphics card, but it won't determine if it will be a good piece of hardware.

Until the parhella is released and avalible and performing well in independant reviews, I refuse to consider it any more than a vaporware.

Sorry, but I simply am not convinced.

Lord, would I just love to have a new Matrox card that does everything I want. However, my natural pessimism has just recently kicked in and I have to agree with Rugger on this one.
