Do you realise how many Matrox employees, Matrox Beta testers and most especially Ant himself you've ticked off?

      Didn't think so.

BTW I was teasing, I'm doing alot more than waiting to hear you dig that hole deeper HAT boy

I'm not pissed, but I do know some who will be, soon.

Cmon folks, leave rugger alone. If he wants to be a doubting Thomas, that's perfectly alright. He's got every right to believe what he wants to. And if Ant was really ticked at him I'm sure he would know about it by now. As it is, I'm convinced that we will see something new from Matrox very soon. I would like rugger to still be here to joke around with when that happens.

And it IS just friendly ribbing as far as I'm concerned.

Who cares what matrox beta testers and employee I piss off. They piss me off no end too . I found the whole idea of Headcasting and how they portrayed it offensive to human intellegence. I had an e-mail session with matrox PR where they seriously tried to convince me of the business merits of Headcasting. It was highly disturbing.

And you haven't answered my question yet, how am I pissing them and you off?

What i am saying is true, matrox do terrible job of general public PR and that is why people don't believe matrox rumors. As for the original question, who should I believe has a better product, a company that states it has a product, or a company that states it won't comment?

Joel, I appoligize if I offended you, but you did ask a silly question that you could have answered yourself with a bit more thought.

Joel, I won't be upset or mad if matrox releases a new card and it is excellent, showing the best qualities of the matrox business. I really am not in the position of saying "Matrox will not realese an earthshatter card", but in "Matrox could release anything at anytime, with the probability of it's code name being Parhella about 90% and it being an earthshattering card
            being about 50%."

Also, I agreed to eat my hat in the thread 'MILLennium G800 soon' if the matrox card could do quake 3 on 4 screens fast. Since the card is unlikely to drive 3 or 4 screens at once, I have lowered to bar to eating my hat if this new card substantially beats everything else. I will not eat my hat if matrox's new card does not do this.

As for the truck anology, it doens't work, because I can take your word for it for a few seconds until I verify it myself. Since I cannot verify the Parhella rumors so quickly, a better anology is "A truck 1000km away is going to run over you in 3 weeks" and expecting me to take it seriously. But since I hate anologies, I won't use it

As I recall, it was 3 screens. And don't be so hasty.. I bet you could make a nice hat out of fruit rollups or chocolate and have a nice treat there.. it would still be a hat.. it would still be yours.. so chow down!

I was actually intending to buy a cheap hat, and in front of my webcam, eat a few small peices of it, and post the results onto my webspace at my ISP.

Problem is, hat isn't really digestable and I worry about the medical implications of eating a whole hat (or even a significant proportion of it). I don't want to end up in hospital on a pump over this.

Nobody believes the rumors because matrox never says what they are doing, while its competors are far more revealing.

I apologize in advance, but after reading this post I feel I must say something and put my two cents worth in.

When someone says Matrox is hush about something, they are correct, to a point. Lately it's been different. Look at all the information that has been available. I have posted up many arrows pointing to what's coming, there have been numerous hints to what's coming from other sources. This doesn't happen by chance. 'G800' was not even in the same room as what Parhelia is now as far as advanced information goes.

Matrox is quiet to a point. When they want to be heard, they make themselves known. There is a reason for all the noise about Matrox lately and it is not because of filler, it's because of Killer.

I can see it is different this time, and I know that if there is smoke, there is probably also fire. That is why I am thinking:

I would not be anywhere near 50% without the noise being made about it. It would be very close 0% 9 to 12 months ago. However, at the end of the day, the noise is still of the "friend of a friend" variety. This noise has very little reliablity, and more importantly, very little accountablilty. If matrox decides to change all their plans at the last minute, they simply can say "sorry, but we didn't actaully say or promise anything". Since this allows matrox to do what they want without explination, I have choosen not to take the noise as the gospel truth.

If the fact that I think "friend of a friend information is unreliable" causes you offense, I appologize, but you will just have to take it. I don't want to be burned by it again by it without explaination.

                      I missed this part.

I haven't brought a video card in almost 2 years. I will admit that the last one was a Geforce DDR, and I payed about $250 US equivelant for it. But that doesn't mean I particularly like this card either, its fast, but it doesn't do 8-bit palettes (for my faviourate old PC games, FF7 and FF8) , and occasionally randomly crashes under linux while doing opengl. It also didn't work on my old celeron, forcing me to upgrade sooner than I would have wanted. Also, the fan on it was of exceptionally poor quality (creative products, what should have I expected ) and failed soon after purchase, forcing me to use a slot cooler on it. However, I will be damned if I don't get my $250 out of this card. So, there is no point telling me that Nvidia cards arn't always what they crack up to be, because I know that already.

In this case I would suggest a stray hat (one of those huge Mexican perhaps?). OK, humans can't digest lignin (wood material), but I wouldn't expect serious digestive problems (but then, I'm a biologist, not a physician).

And you could stretch the whole hat over a month or so: hat burger, hat with mayonaise, hat soup, flamed hat, hat fries, hat pie, hat pizza, hat cake, ...

People lets all play nicely there is room for both sides and we won't have to wait much longer before the truth is out there and those that know can start saying "I told you so"

The question now should not be can Matrox produce something of this magnitute but can they get it into production in numbers quickly because if anything is going to screw up Parhelia now it will be that.

I have no doubt that Matrox can create a device of this magnitude if they really wanted to, but I do still doubt whether they are really serious about doing it. To pull this off, matrox will need to use some serious technology, such as 256-bit DDR memory bus, QDR memory, or some other exotic memory type. Or it will have to use a tile or some other exotic (non immediate mode) rendering technology. Matrox just hasn't shown any enough real "balls" over the last few years (the G450, G550 and their rapid exit from the video capture market are all examples of the lack of "balls") to be able to make the rumors believeable, let alone make people (me) believe the parhella is the real deal.

BTW, what about the hat recipe book .
