Really. I have both 1600+ and 2000+ AthlonXP's and save for benchmarks and a fairly proportional difference in MPEG-2 encoding times you can hardly tell the difference.
Perhaps there's a bit more snap in desktop operations and when working in performance demanding apps like Photoshop, PhotoImpact, MSPro or Premiere, but otherwise....
I saw a larger gain in overall performance when I went from 512 megs to 1 gig of RAM in Win2K.
