On the serious side, I'm sure everyone has mixed feelings about it right now. We've been pumped up for so long and had our sights set on the 14th, now all we have to anticipate is an official product release.

If Matrox was like the box office at a theatre, people would be camping out right about now.
    Waiting on tech support...

Okay, if anyone here knows someone that'd like to buy a Gainward GF4 Ti4600 GS card (less than a week old right now-> THIS card, since it's a replacment from their support people), for $350, they can also supply a hat, which I will gladly eat while I wait in the camping line outside Matrox's offices.
      "..so much for subtlety.."

      System specs:
      Gainward Ti4600
      AMD Athlon XP2100+ (o.c. to 1845MHz)

Man, this GF3 is gonna flyyyyyyyyyy after I kick it right out of my door !!!!!
When I was still a kid, my parents got me a Packard Bell. I've never been happier. Now it's degraded to a foot support.

For those concerned with the 3fps..

The 3fps is probably right. That is an IQ test, not the benchmark itself. What it is doing there is, taking a still screen capture of the test. The pro-version of 3dmark allows you to do this. It will always take the picture in the same exact place, and let you compare your image quality.. That is why the no aa and the 16xaa both have 3fps..

Thought you would like to know

Ooh, that makes sense. I can't wait to see how fast we can get that oh-so-good-looking FSAA.

I do like that AA. I still cant get over how clean the light poll on the 16x screenshot is. It's very very impressive. Looking forward to more tests in a few days.

Haig did say even we would be suprised

SOME of the things there seem iffy though

eg they tailored that page to the rumours

besides the nviditots i know still wont listen

changed from 'matrox will never be again'

                  to

                  'not as fast as gf4'

gee nvidia tried to hard to make it faster they made half the 3d engine buggy.......

It almost looks like the V5's RGSS, but cleaner because it blurs just what needs to be blurred.. funny how they need 16 to get it to look that way, but if its playable I'll be happy.. and eating hat :P

                      • Not much really. I just feel bad for the ones that respected the nda.

                        • Just going over the AA shots again. If you look at the two plane shots;

                          and

and switch between them, the plane looks fantastic, but the text in the upper right corner looks off when in AA mode.

Almost looks like "Sound On" is supperimposed over it or something.

Actually, just used DeskNav to zoom in, and Alt+Tab to switch between the images, and it does look like a AA issue.

Will have to see it in action to see how it is in real life.

                          • Just did the same with the 3Dmark pictures, and noticed that the cone of light comming out from the bottom of the plane isnt smoothed. Probably only works on 'real' edges, not alpha modifications.

I wonder if Matrox will allow the use of Super Sampling AA as an option in the drivers as well. If they have the fill rate to run 3 monitors at decent speed, they also have the power to run at 3X screen resolution.

It would be nice to have FAA-16X on by default, and use SSAA if you want the highest possible image quality, even if it means a performance hit

                            Just one mans thoughts.
