i am really exited about the parhelia and the info on the matrox website makes the card look like its way ahead of the compitition. however what dissapoints me is the press reaction saying that the card will not be as fast as a ti4600 whic i was easily expecting it to beat, dont get me wrong i dont want to boast about the highest 3dmark score or frames per second but will this card be powerfull enough to implement its features or will they slow it down like fsaa did with the voodoo 5? if this is no faster than a ti4600 then i am not sure that it will be able to run 3 monitor 3d at respectible speeds which would be a shame as its a killer feature. since no boards appear to be out there at the moment i can only hope that anand and others comments were wrong regarding speed and will await the first reveiw with much anticipation. i will buy one regardless though simply for the quality even if it isnt the fastest, i just dont like paying for features i cant use.

I'm not dissapointed at all...I'm very impressed with what Matrox has done with its new card. As for the speed comment...they are basing their conculutions on whats written on paper and not real testing with the Card...I think everyone should be very pleased with the real world results

I really don't know where especially anand has his performance numbers from, seeing that he admits not having had a board (not even a pre-production one)...
I do fear a little, because everything still seems to be so "alpha", no boards for the previewers, severe artifacts in the screenshots... I fear we might have to wait a little longer than we'd like to... but then again, I can't afford it anyway, so I only care because of matrox and all of you

What anyone has seen to date is at best an Alpha board... just wait, there is reason for them either slamming it based on thier bias and/or from their view.
Developers are eating it up in a BIG way...

Actually i'm very satisfied. Look at the avi's from matrox! Everything looks beautiful. The card is very feature-filled. And i take quality over speed anytime. The card was a bit overhyped here, but everyone jumped on it and it was a fun ride
And with Greebes comment i am confident that the card will be faster than the GF4, i don't care by what margin.

The only thing I wish it has was Occlusion Culling. Maybe the .13 part will have that.
Anyway, I am ready to lay down my cash for one ASAP!

Im not dissappointed at all. Now Im just wondering what the price will be and when I can buy one As far as speed, lets wait and see. I for one will take quality over speed any time.

Some features were likely left off because of space limitations on the .15 die so .13 might fix that.

If Matrox wanted to come back in the market with a bang I think they should made using .13 microns, had good memory management, put occlusion culling on and the rest of the DX9 features. I would of known then that the only card which could probably beat it convincingly would be the nv35, the nv30 would probably be on par with the matrox card as well and this card would be out in like march of next year. Also adding all these features would bump the price up much at all, seeing that .13 is cheaper to make than .15 it might of made it cheaper!!!Comment

That would have been nice, Jazzz, but the .13 process isn't up and running yet at the Fab. If they were going .13 they would have to wait for release until the end of the year.

The race may not be over but now Matrox has to wait for the other horses to find the track and start running.
There will most likely be a slew of comparison benchmarks to come pitting the Parhelia-512 against every competitor determined to bring it down to size. I offer this tidbit to the benchmark hungry gamer. Turn up the detail in the game, way up, and then run those benchmarks. Go ahead and increase the screen size and resolution and run those benchmarks. I was disappointed with the mildly negative views of Anand and a few others but they have that right and I didnt get the feeling that anyone bore any malice. I also hope that 16*FSAA isnt riddled with holes, that there is better memory management than none and that it more than 20-30% faster than a GF4.
On the other hand upto last night people were laughing at Matrox and putting them down as a company that had specialised yet limited abilities. Now they come back with this. What a bloody re-entrance into the 3d scene.
Parhelia may not be as capable as the leaked specs of ATI and nVidias next gen cards and it may not be as programmable as 3dLabs but you have to hand it to them, this card is packed with some superb features.
