  • What could amd and matrox have been researching.

Either a nice cheap 2d core to integrate into one of their hammer server solutions chipsets, Or something to do with their mobile hammer solutions.

Just guesses because if it seems that it would make sense seeing as it looks like their 3d is going down the pan. and their 2d is rock solid.

    What do I know....

Matrox was developing a video card with four 3 GHz hammer processors stuck on it, and had found a way to keep the cost below $300, but their marketing department determined that consumers didn't want that kind of performance.

If I was guessing.... I might say....something similar to this...."Matrox didn't finish the project, cut off all ties, and really annoyed Intel, or was it AMD?"

                Chipset?

For Clawhammer with integrated TBA (supped up G550) core? Ati and nV have announced clawhammer chipsets.

                But consider this:
AMD = ~20% marketshare (~80 intel, the rest close to 0 - Transmeta, VIA)
AMD chipset makers: AMD, VIA, SiS, nVidia, Ali

Where did these AMD rumors start? I know there was something posted about The FL Matrox HQ closing down and someone posted something in what I thought was in jest about M and AMD working on something together.....
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

It not that hard to guess at now is it?

Apparently, since nobody's guessed correctly after having a ton of time.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

My guess would be a Socket370 chipset with an integrated G800 (at the time still being designed, possibly just a G400) core. My guess would also include a laptop chipset....
