Matrox is good at analogue circuitry, and pcb design. They could have been working together on signalling issues.

      Or combining marketing skills.

Let's keep making very varied guesses. When we hit the spot the thread will be pulled

SOI, Could amd fab their chips at one of their old plants? Hyper transport connections to memory / cpu from graphics cards. Shared memory designs. ra ra ra.

Matrox + Apple graphics card for their OSX 64 bit effort, video buffs would probably die for it. (poss a bit strong).

If all these matrox offices are closing down, we might not be seeing the whole picture.

If matrox have a killer feature patent it and sell it, it sold should make more money than actually building it yourself. Seeing as they probably don't have enough resources to make a card with completely killer features, sell technology to make other cards complete, so other manufactures don't clone it they implement your design and pay royalties.

And maybe they finished the project and closed the site to finance building chips/boards, and it's coming out at the same time as the Geforce FX leaving nVidia in a dark lonely corner

              Aint it nice to dream????
