  • Glad to see this old thread is still going strong every Spring!

So, will this be the year for the Vancouver Canucks

I've been following the Canucks for their entire 40 years, and this is the strongest team they've ever had. Yes, stronger than the '94 Canucks which took the Rangers to game 7 before losing in the finals.

It would be great to see a Montreal-Vancouver final this time around, but I don't know if the Habs have the horses to get there.

Anyway, the Canucks have started off on the right foot, and taken game 1 from the Hawks, 2-0.

Just 15 more victories to go!

      • Hard hitting game...

Hawks played better in game 2 than in game 1, but the Canucks persevered and won the game 4-3. Now leading the series 2-0.

        14 more victories to go.

        • Hawks on the ropes

Game 3 was another hard hitting affair, with the Canucks coming from behind to defeat the Blackhawks 3-2. Vancouver now leads the series 3-0.

          13 more victories to go.

          • Unless Luongo has an epic choke, it looks like they are finally going to knock out the Hawks.

            • Dust off the golf clubs, Hawks are almost done

Yeah, after Chicago knocking Vancouver out of the playoffs the last couple of years, this is going to be sweet (although the Hawks are only a mere shadow of the team that won the cup last year).

Despite everyone they unloaded, I think their biggest mistake was getting rid of Byfuglien.

Haig, you might enjoy seeing Luongo recite some poetry Here. One verse is about Byfuglien.

                  Human eclipse
                  Rhinoceros hips
Who will laugh last when I slash your calf
                  Bring me peace
                  Make it cease
Get your big ass out of my crease

Byfuglien marches to the beat of his own drum. As effective as he was against the Canucks in the playoffs the last couple of years, I get the impression reading between the lines that the Blackhawk players themselves don't miss Byfuglien all that much. I suspect he was kind of a distraction on the team and was more trouble than he was worth (although the Hawks could certainly use him now).

                    • Not quite what I was looking forward to

Ouch, the Canucks got spanked 7-2 by the Hawks in game 4. Canucks lead the series 3-1.

Game 5 in Vancouver should be good.

                      • Where's the team I've been watching all year?

The Canucks were absolutely humiliated by the Hawks in Vancouver 5-0. The Canucks still lead the series 3-2, but damn, what the hell is going on? It's like the Hawks are supercharged out there and the Canuck players are stunned and confused.

                        • Down to the wire...

The Hawks win 4-3 in OT in game 6. Not quite the outcome I wanted, but great game nonetheless. The 7th and deciding game will be on Tuesday here in Vancouver. May the best team win.

You only appear during the playoff then you disappear hehe.

Elie, I was kind of surprised to see that I hadn't posted here since 2007.

                              I guess I've been... distracted.
