    Another year has passed....

It's now April again. And what does that mean?

    Stanley Cup Playoffs !!!

Vancouver knocks Edmonton out of the playoffs in their last regular season game, and in the process beats out Colorado for first place in the division. Sweet!

Vancouver and Calgary in round one. Everyone better keep their head up!

At least, our zone this year isn't a red light district Would be nice to sweep Boston and then play Toronto.

          Old friends

Ah, Elie and Haig, two of my favorite people from the "old days" in these forums!

Yes, wouldn't it great if the Cup is finally brought back home to Canada. Of course, I'm hoping it occurs way out here on the west coast!

                Hi Patrick,

it doesn't look like Vancouver is hurting much without Bertuzzi.

Bertuzzi should be in jail for what he did to Moore.
I hope he never plays in the NHL again.

                  Besides that...GO AVALANCHE!!!

Avs won the first game against Dallas. Game2 Tomorrow night

You can bet that if an "enforcer" did that, he'd be banned for life from the NHL.

So who is in the finals of Stanley?

My favourite team that is also sponsored by our local Matrox dealer, didn't make it to the national finals for the first time in history this year.

Haig, the Bertuzzi/Moore incident certainly had an effect on the team for a couple of weeks. Three weeks ago it looked like the Canucks were in a state of total disarray. They were going absolutely nowhere. Then they finally gave their collective heads a shake and went on a tear at the end of the season winning six straight games. Vancouver is a stronger team with Bertuzzi, but he's just one guy and they have now adjusted to his departure.

Haig, that hasn't been the case in the past with the NHL. Have a look at my reply to Kruzin.

Kruzin, the fact that you and I are from Colorado and Vancouver respectively makes it near impossible for either one of us to be unbiased in our view of the Bertuzzi/Moore incident. Did Bertuzzi deserve to be suspended from playing in the NHL? Certainly. For the rest of his life? Hardly.

What Bertuzzi did was disgraceful and disgusting. I’m sure no one regrets what he did more than Bertuzzi himself. Although he can do (and has done) a lot of harm because he’s so big and strong, Bertuzzi is no “goon”. He is one of the most skilled players in the league. Bertuzzi does not have a history of maiming opposition players.

The league will eventually have to set the final number of games Bertuzzi is to sit based on previous suspensions. Read over This article and you’ll see that the league is pretty soft when it comes to suspensions. One paragraph in the article I linked to describes Matt Johnson’s sucker punch to the back of Jeff Beukeboom’s head. Beukeboom had no idea that Johnson was even near him. That one punch ended Beukeboom’s career. Johnson was suspended for 12 games! Based on that incident (as well as the other’s that are mentioned in the article), Bertuzzi’s suspension up to and including this year’s playoffs is probably justified and enough.

                              Hey Patrick,

Yup, I'm back on the Canucklehead bandwagon after hopping off a couple of times this year. Those guys are soooo frustrating sometimes, its hard to watch.

But I'm in for the duration of the playoffs, however long that is. My two daughters are rabid hockey fans (one lives in Chilliwack the other in my basement ) and are here today so the game is on !!!

                              Go CANUCKLEHEADS Go

                                Patrick,

I personally think that the NHL has a set of rules for the enforcers and another for the rest.

McSorely/Brashear incident was far less sever than what Bertuzzi did. It looked bad becuase Brashear was a drama queen and the end result was the concusion from his head hitting the ice. For this, McSorely got 1 year becuase he is an enforcer.

If someone like Sakic would have done the same, I personally don't think that Sakic would be gone for a year.

Before the game, Bertuzzi had said that he was going to make Moore pay for the Naslund hit. Bertuzzi broke Moore's neck and drove his head into the ice. Becuase he isn't an enforcer, I don't think he'll get anywhere near what McSorely got.

Another thing, Moore was challenged and fought a Vancouver tough guy in the 1st period. So they had already got their "revenge" for his hit on Naslund. But Bertuzzi still had to go after him.

2 years ago, Bertuzzi was suspended 10 games for coming off the bench to join a fight in a game against Colorado. He broke the nose of defenceman Karlis Skrastins, a non-fighter.

He also fired a slapshot at Scotty Bowman while he stood behind the Red Wing's bench.

Bertuzzi should go but we all know Bettman caves in to the "superstars".

That's the way I see it anyway
