There's no reason to colonize the moon man. Launch pad, maybe; mining, maybe. You're not going to fit a significant number of people up there though.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I think if we just built a biocave somewhere in some mountains we'd be OK. Sink geothermal wells for power and bring everything down with us that we'd need to survive the six years of volcanic winter.. too bad we could only save a few thousand people that way though.

Anyone considered opening it up a bit to have a controlled eruption?

I can see that going horribly wrong!

LOL no kidding. How is puny mankind supposed to control such an insuperable force? Even a minor volcano like Kiluea is beyond our control.. we just have to watch helplessly as slow lava flows consume neighborhoods.

Volcanoes are THE primordial force.. all we can do is get out of the way.

MORE reason to get our @sses up to Mars (Total Recall ref) and start exploring/terraforming before something stupid happens here.

Well, if we were left with only a few people in the world, it would be dumb to have people who are fanatical about not reproducing.

No no. They WANT to reproduce. They just don't want you putting your thingy in them in order for it to happen.

They want your genetic material (or more likely some femmy man's), just not your manhood.

Doesn't look like that an option in the foreseable future:
