    1. as someone who deals with video that one of Saddam was pre-recorded. There are obvious cuts, half fades and other problems. It also doesn't look like Saddam...but then if I'd been knocked out of bed by a cruise missile I might look like shite too

    2. last word is that the Iraqi 11th Infantry and 5th Mechanized divisions are going to surrender without a shot. Some strikes took out their supplies and supply lines leaving them without any gas or supplies. This would amount to 2/3 of the regular Iraqi army in the southern part of the country.

If #2 is true this would open a freeway to Baghdad.

Yep...U.S. Forces levelled a fuel depot outside of Baghdad, and are probably now doing the same sort of thing to the C^3 infrastructure...

This will be first "live" cyber war: The Iraqis are going to freak when they see what happens when the boys and girls at Fort Meade roll up their sleeves and get nasty. The Psy-ops going on right now are impressive - we can and probably will own their Radio and TV capability shortly, we will then really, really mindf#ck them.

          I never said it wasn't.

Public opinion would be very different if they made public what Saddam did to the Kurds in the 1980's. It was not pretty. He thinks himself the King of Mesopotamia. He isn't.

          Next Stop: North Korea.

I seriously wonder wether North Korea should not be left to China and Russia.

Multiman - you are full of toss.....

The next stop wont be North Korea - its a country with LIVE nuclear missiles - and nothing to loose... you dont f**K with that kind of mentality..... The US would NOT be able to deploy on the borders as they have done in Kewait.

This kind of sh*t was talked about 'we got him - no we didnt' with Bin Laden - lets not surmise again... If Saddam was killed the leadership would be sueing for peace.....

some bunkers were perhaps hit. A fuel dump was hit. Thats all we can glean so far. Anti aircraft fire was fairly light, given the number of AA guns and missiles in the Iraqi arsenal

Like it or not, that little guy Kim Il Sung is Scary with a capital S. He is also a megalomaniac. He only wants to speak to the U.S.: Why? Because Clinton paid them what essentially amounted to a bribe: Once you pay the Danegeld, the Dane is sure to return. (No Offense to the Danish...the saying comes from the time of the Vikings)

There is no easy solution to that particular problem.

Ok so I find this morning's headlines hilarious:

                  AP, Reuters:
"At least one, perhaps as many as four SCUD missiles fired from Iraq at Kuwaiti/US/UK positions."

                  Iraq:
"Iraqi Information Minister says "IRAQ HAS NO SCUD MISSILES!" "

                  ROFLMAO.

                  ----------------

                  On North Korea:

Bush has already said we're gonna let China handle it, up until such time as it becomes clear that they just won't. China has indicated that they probably will, so let's just leave it, ok?

Er, that was true, but the little guy you're talking about has been dead for some years now. Kim Jong Il does not seem a megalomaniac at all...he looks like he's just been woken up from deep slumber half the time and is probably advised/pressured/commanded by a whole lot of warlock generals in the other half.

U.S. and Kuwaiti sources initially reported all the missiles as Scuds, but the Pentagon later said it believes they were al Samouds or some other type of missile.

                            Wulfman,

How's this for you. According to Reuters, updated as of 10:39AM EST Thursday, March 20, 2003:

A Kuwaiti defense ministry spokesman said a U.S. Patriot anti-missile defense battery brought down two Iraqi Scuds, intercepting one with three Patriot missiles and the other with a single Patriot.
Because the Kuwaitis DON'T KNOW WHAT SCUDS LOOK LIKE? After being on the receiving end of them for quite some time, I think they have a clue.

A British spokesman at a joint U.S.-British military headquarters in Qatar confirmed that Iraq had fired at least one Scud,
Because the UK is also lying. Whatever!

"One (Scud) was knocked by a Patriot system. Where the debris landed I'm not sure. The debris is being investigated at this moment. What we can say is there are no casualties," the spokesman said.

"They were closer (to U.S. and British troops) than you'd like, but not desperately close,"
We'll know for sure as soon as that debris is analyzed, I imagine.

Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf denied that Baghdad had any Scuds.

"I heard reports that we fired Scud missiles on Kuwait. I would like to tell you that we don't have Scud missiles and why they were fired, I don't know,"
Whoops! Since the Iraqi Information Minister (whose family is held at gunpoint by Saddam's men) said it, it MUST be true, right?

                            ------------------------

Sorry, I'm being sarcastic. The missiles YOU are thinking of are these ones ... from the SAME Reuters article:

Earlier on Thursday Iraq fired two other missiles into Kuwait's northern desert, but Kuwaiti officials described these weapons as smaller, Chinese-made missiles. The British spokesman said Iraq had fired two Seersucker anti-ship missiles.
                            You're right. THOSE weren't SCUDs.

Honestly, I think the British military and Kuwaiti officials KNOW what SCUDs look like.

Yep...Tonight, It's gonna be Playtime for Wild Weasels; HARM (Homing Anti-Radar Missile) Strikes, SAM Suppression Strikes: The Iraqis will be blinded, then killed in their holes.

Then will come the Great Tomahawk Toss...coming to a bunker or militarily useful target near you... 7000 of Them...

Don't run, Saddam; you'll only die tired.

Gurm, you really think they've saw them? I mean, if SCUD's were cruise-like missiles, than that would be more probable (just a little though). But in case of ballistic missile...
The only way they concluded this is because of the character of flight I think ("was it flying like scud? than it must be scud!"). But it could be also iraqi - made missiles maybe...
for any conclusion, let's wait for the expertise of debris...wonder how unbiased it will be...
