    Are you really from planet Earth? I know for a fact they have 'em in Canada

    More than one person involved in a criminal conspiracy is one definition of a "gang", but in generally it's a few people....almost always delinquent minors or young adults....who "own" a few blocks around their neighborhood and most often handle the drug distribution in that area. In studies the age distrubution in urban gangs is as follows;

    * 21 percent under age 15

    * 45 percent ages 15-17

    * 28 percent ages 18-24

    * 5 percent over age 24

    But in real life a "gang" can also include organized crime groups as well as youth gangs, but there is a lot of crossover since the larger more organized groups (drug cartels, Mafia, Hells Angels etc.) use the street gangs as their drug distribution networks.

    To show you how pervasive this can end up; back in the 1980's perhaps the most active Detroit drug gang was called "Young Boys, Incorporated", run by a punk called "White Boy Rick". His girlfriend was the niece of then Detroit Mayor Coleman Young

    Close associates, relatives and Young's hand-picked police chief were indicted and many went to jail. His finances were scrutinized and his own residence was bugged.

    Even though Young was never a defendant, municipal and police corruption trials cast an unfavorable light on his administration and personal affairs.

    The 1992 trial of Police Chief William Hart for embezzling $2.3 million revealed that while the city was scrambling for money and police officers to fight drugs, thousands of dollars and entire top-flight investigative crews were diverted to protect the mayor's niece as she romped with a teenage dope lord, Richard (White Boy Rick) Wersche.
    Here's some reading for you;

      I never said there wasn't. The reason why I ask such a rather stupid question is to get YOUR definition of "gang", that's all. It's just for my own personal information. I'm not here to attack you on the subject.

              Doc, yes it did.

              But you tend to hear about and see more of the larger gangs in Canada, mainly biker gangs as they are spread out over Quebec and Ontario, and the fact they own almost all the bars in Quebec.

                Had this one in the army:

                AKS-47 assault rifle with metallic folding butt

                Very nice.
                Could hit silhuette of a shooter at 300m ~984" with first shoot on a shooting range.

                I don't own any firearms at the moment and I currently don't feel the need for it.

                As for allowing people owning firearms:
                - The most crime happens with illegaly obtained weapons, which criminals would obtain regardless if they were banned.
                - I support the idea that people should be able to own firearms, provided that they are sane, have no criminal record, have received some training, have them registered and are keept properly (locked).

                I think problems of America's crime rate don't stem from firearms (they are just as widespread in Canada and Switzerland).

                As for hunting:
                - Current habitats are far from natural (IE man has changed the ratios of predators and preys), so they have to be controlled, so hunting is one of ways to control them.
                - But I couldn't shoot a deer, I'd proabably make a lousy hunter.

                But I'd love to go to shooting range sometimes.

                  I didn't ask you to come shit on my thread with your rambling crap. If you want to voice your opinion, please do it in another thread. I wanted to see what guns people own not discuss why people should or shouldn't have guns. Thanks for ruining my thread

                  EDIT: I know others have contributed to the political discussion but Brian started it.

                    Nice collection Doc I have shot a few of those guns you mention above. I have used the Remington 1100 for hunting on many occasions. When I was shotgun shopping I didn't have enough money for the 110 so I settled for the 870 instead. I am glad I bought it though, it is really fun to shoot. I use it mostly for quail hunting.

                      Arsenal? Such an (mis)overused word... I think of it more as a toolkit.

                      Mine:

                      Handguns;
                      .22LR Ruger MKII KMK-678 Semi-Auto Pistol w/ Red Dot sight.
                      .22lr AMT Lightning (MK-II Lookalike) w/6" barrel and Red Dot Sight. (Left Handed prototype)
                      .32S&W Long Wadcutter Benelli MP3-S ISU Centerfire Pistol.
                      9x19mm S&W Model 6906
                      9x19mm Taurus PT-92
                      .45ACP Colt M1911A1
                      .45ACP S&W Model 645

                      Carbines;
                      .22 Short Remington Model 241A Speedmaster
                      .22 LR Ruger 10/22 Heavy Barrell (on my Website)
                      .22 LR Ruger 10/22 Ultra Lightweight (Under Construction)
                      .22 Short/Long/LR Winchester Model 92.
                      .22 Short Winchester Model 92 Gallery Gun.

                      The '92s are highly collectible.

                      Rifles;
                      .22-250 Remington Model 700 BDL Left Hand Short Action: This will be rebarrelled to a .243 Winchester soon.
                      .30-06 Remington Model 700 BDL Left Hand Long Action: This will probably be rebarrelled to .35 Whelen.
                      .257 Weatherby Magnum Sako LVIII Left Hand Magnum Action: 28" barrel...shoots 120 grain bullets at 3300 FPS with factory ammunition. Thinking of rebarrelling it for the new 7mm Remington Ultramag.

                      (It helps when your father is a full-time gunsmith.)

                      Shotguns;
                      28 Gauge Winchester Model 12. NOT FOR SALE. Extremely Rare
                      12 Gauge Remington Model 1100 Trap Left Hand.

                      A few Air rifles and Air Pistols.
