I have a 12 bore shotgun from I think the 1920s that I inherited from my great-grandfather. It is kept back on my parents' farm with another shotgun (my fathers), and air-rifle (my younger brother's) and a little 9mm shotgun used for shooting rats (effective range about 20 foot!).
The shotguns, apart from very very occasional pheasant shoots, are used for clay-pigeon shooting, which is good fun even if I am a terrible shot.
As for shooting rats, well let me just say that the cats we keep are rather more effective in controlling them!
I have never touched or seen a real gun in my life.
But I WILL use one of those machine guns or M-16 when I get called to my home country for the army . Don't wanna get dragged to that hell.
Originally posted by Brian Ellis I believe there is no valid reason for anyone to own any kind of firearm in a civilised society (and I don't believe hunting is part of a civilised society either, except where it is essential to be the only way of providing meat for the table). The use of arms for waging war is an abuse of human rights - in fact it is not a human right, even if some may consider it an animal right. And I say this having performed active service in a conscripted military, and am ashamed to admit it. All human life is sacred. Thou shalt not kill (under any circumstances).
Great, so if someone breaks into your house and threatens to hurt your family, you can throw your shoe at him. Sometimes a gun is just nice to have for protection.
Originally posted by Lizzard[MPE] i have a 12 gauge and a 20 gauge back home. dont really need them in florida. i havent seen many places for sporting clays and trap around here
You ever do any hunting Liz? Oh and, it's good to see you Haven't seen you around the forums too much lately. I think I can speak for everyone when I say we miss your revolving avatar pictures
well..... to whoever it was that said " thou shalt not kill".... its thou shalt not murder...... killing is alright if done for the right reasons... such as defending yourself..... murder is never alright.....but if you think killing is wrong then i guess its alright if you get shot...... but as for me i would rather kill then be killed...... and the guns i have are a vector uzi 9mm..... a colt 9mm...a hk ump 45.... and my favorite a g36..... all of these are " class three weapons".... to get these you have to be registered... but its worth it.... i also have a glock 17 and a 357mag
