It also says they were in a locked gun safe which means he took them without permission which in my boat is stealing. So they were still gotten illegally by him.

Libertarian is still the way to go if we truly want a real change.
Of course it is easy to get a weapon on the black market. Still it's more of a hassle than just going into the cellar and picking up father's gun - and requires a little more planning or at least effort, so it'll give a kid time to "cool down".
Actually, no it doesn't. I'd say it's easier to buy a gun from some guy at school than it is to take one from your house.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
Joel: The only thing this really means is that his parents haven't locked the gun(s?) away properly. Sure he stole them - but he shouldn't have been able to in the first place. (See, if this household had owned no weapons, it wouldn't have been that easy for him to get access to a weapon)
Wombat: This is absolutely not the case here. It's harder to get your dad's gun because he will most likely don't have one, but I really wouldn't have gotten a weapon at school - and I wouldn't have known where to get one. And I think at least part of the reason is that there are not as many legal guns that can get stolen, lost, etc.
It's really different here. There's no need to own a gun for protection from people who own a gun...
