Julie gets 4 weeks plus 5 personal days for a total of 5 weeks, but she can't take the personal days contiguously unless there's an emergency or something.

But that's REALLY rare here in the USA. Pharmaceutical companies offer outstanding benefits though... her last job had 4+5 as well.

365 days/year in theory. Average about 2 days/year in practice (Since I retired, I've never worked so damn hard in my life )

I wish I worked in Denmark all of a sudden. I'd have to brush up on my Danish first, though.

Nah, most of Europe is super-relaxed. Short workdays, short workweeks, restrictions on overtime...

Well I got the max 4 weeks after 7 yrs service with my company, and 4 sick days. If you don't use the sick days you lose them.

30 days, adding free weekends that's 6 weeks overall, plus a couple of free days for administrative stuff, like when you're moving or become a father ...

If I schedule it properly around all national holidays (x-mas, new year. easter etc.), I even can get more than that.
Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

And thank god for that! (As you put it that way I find it amusing that you americans are so much larger on the horisontal-axis than us!)

I think the standard here in Sweden is more or less 5 weeks plus some days.
