Yes, TTT was a snore-fest - I saw 2 people sleeping at the theater during my showing. The babbling of the characters did little to help the suspense of the situation. Ultimately it seemed like the movie relied on the final battle to serve as its redemption. (To no fault of Peter Jackson, it is the middle of a book)

The CGI on the ents looked awful. They were these cuddly animations that looked like they were straight out of a children's book.

As for the story , I've found myself in a situation where nothing has really amazed me with the story in either of the LOTR movies. (Have not read the books) In comparison, the first Matrix really did a great job of bringing to life the "rabbit hole". I'm also pleased to say that the second one takes that rabbit hole and blows it up with a quarter-ton of dynamite.

Anyways, could someone with some deeper knowledge in hex clarify this?

THE MATRIX: RELOADED covers a lot of ground. The future brings sections on visual effects, the ships, the creatures, the stunts, and much more. All things evolve. For those that understand this, perhaps the following will be understood.

    0xA3B1A428

For the above hex, you will need a fairly fast computer and graphics card. An appreciation of the Neb is not a prerequisite (but it helps).

I saw Reloaded, it blew some surprises in me. Still I think the first one is better (less use of special FX) and the story was better. Of course the effect of surprise of people being integrated inside giant bubles just to feed the machines has disappeared but this second part still leaves me with big question marks. I'm definitly going to see it again and when I'm through, I'm going to watch Matrix & Matrix Reloaded in one shot just to make sure I understood everything . So if you loved Matrix go watch Reloaded.

I heard that the game covered a different part of the story.. I think I'll get a copy..

I read the 3 books and I bashed the first movie when I saw it. Then came the DVD Long version and I'm happy with it. Now TTT is a crapy movie and Peter Jackson even dared to twist the story... if you do an adaptation you do it right and if you cannot shoot something to fit right on screen you don't shoot it!

            Ssin,

Give me a "change" PJ made and I'll explain why it was made and how it works... or else inform you that it'll be in the extended edition. I've had this debate before and I always win. Go on, I dare ya.

I's still not as good a movie as the first one, though that MIGHT be the book's fault (yes, I haven't read it). And he's overdone the dwarf humour. (mind you, I absolutely loved the dwarf humour in FotR extended)

yup, thats my problem with the movie aswell, "the dwarf humour" as you call it. Gimli was actually a character that COULD be taken seriously, in the book. In the movie you never really get an explanation of his motives, why he showed up at riwendale to begin with, etc. I understand why PJ left that out, but they could atleast have given Gimli a credible personality. maybe they will improve that in the extended edition. I still like the movie enough to buy the extended version of all three parts though.

The dwarf jokes... well the tossing I'm not very fond of, it's a bit overdone. However, all the rest of the dwarf humor is taken pretty much word for word from the appendices.

Fact is that Tolkien wrote every character far too seriously, and only demonstrated that any of them had a sense of humour by TELLING us about it. This is one of the things about Tolkien that throws a lot of people - he TELLS us what characters' motivation is instead of demonstrating it.

I liked TTT as a movie, but it was ... disjointed. Tolkien wrote it in segments, and PJ wanted to reintegrate it, in order to give everyone a better sense of when everything is happening, and concurrency. I would have personally preferred it to stay like the book - one half with Frodo and Sam, and the other half with everyone else. But alas, it was not to be.

Ok, uhm.... how could some of you be thinking that the story in the first one was better than the second one? (The Matrix, not LOTR, since this thread has been going COMPLETELY off topic).

I think of it kind of like saying the Episode 1 is better than Episode 2 of Star Wars, and same with Lord of the Rings. It's a series which in many ways is different than a trilogy. For instance, you could easily compare the Indiana Jones movies, 'cause they're all just completely seperate adventures. But with LOTR, Star Wars, and The Matrix, they're all like one big long story.

You wouldn't go to the library and check out book two of a series would you? It's like watching Star Trek 3 then 2 then four. Those three movies all run back to back.

Now as far as judging how this one pulls you further into the Matrix universe.... Holy Crap, some good good stuff, but guaranteed that at least 80% of all people will go "huh?" at the end. Or they'll say things like "that had some killer special effects and action sequences, but the story/plot was stupid" Don't you just love it when there is something that people don't understand and it's either stupid, or evil or (in a particularly insane case) racist?

(by the way, I hate to beat a dead horse, but the reason why all the Agents are white guys dressed in black suits is because they're supposed to be the "Men in Black" that are the super agents of the government. According to the stories of them, they were all pale faced and possibly alien themselvs. I don't know how Wil Smith became one )

                        Wah! Wah!

I watched Matrix Reloaded a couple of days back and While the movie answers some questions i had (eg. Why the heck that the Oracle has not been caught by the agents if she is inside the matrix or if she is real why didnt they go and see her in the real world).. However the ending does leave me asking some new ones.. (spoiler) eg? How did Agent Smith managed to get into the mind of a normal guy in the real world or is it really the real world since Neo did something at the end of the movies to the machines?

                            Gurm :
                            - Why the hell should elves appear at Helms?
                            - The reason the Ents go to war is totaly different from the book.
                            - In the book (as I remember) Rohan people don't go to Helms, it's the remaining army that does.
                            - Why did wargs attack the moving convoy?
                            - I don't remember Theoden being "exorcised" by Gandalf but rather brought back to reason.

I can understand that you add some scenes that don't appear in the book for the sake of the screenplay what I don't accept is that you change the personality of characters.

If you see the movie again you will understand how smith got in. Apparently Neo and the rest are still in the matrix or a different matrix with different rules specially made for the 0.01% of people that do not fit in.
