  • Buying hardware in Germany, questions for German MURCERs

    OK, so here's the deal:
    • One buys the hardware in Germany.
    • Takes it to border and declares export. If one is not a German or EU citizen (not untill May 2004), one is not entitled to pay VAT (Mehrwertsteuer). The receipts are stamped at EU (Si/At borders).
    • After that, one goes back to shop with stamped receipt and collects VAT, which is 16% (1/1,16 = 86,2%, delta is 13,8%)

      This makes all the difference.

Therefore it would be most economical to get everything in 1 to 3 different shops and collecting VAT from brick and mortar shops is more convenient.

I could go there with money, buy the stuff, store it at friends, have someone who goes to munich on regular basis drive it here and collect VAT latter.

I could certainly save money, question is:
How much, is it worth the hassle.

    Therefore I'd kindly ask you:
    • to give me a few URLs of /recommend a few brick and mortar HW stores in Munich.
    • Some of the hardware I'd like to buy is not everyday office/gaming part, so it could be slightly more difficult for shops to have it in stock. What's the proababilty for that?

Here's the list of things I intend to buy:
1 Chieftec CS-2001 big tower case (Antec OK as well)
    1 Antec True Power 430W
    3 Zalman F1
    1 TYAN S2466N4 DUAL +LAN
    2 ATHLON XP 2500+
    2 Thermalright SK-7
    2 Zalman F1
2 Corsair CM72SD512RLP-2100 512MB (Some other brand name ECC registered OK)
1 TOSHIBA SD-M1712 16X48 IDE (black, Pioneer ok as well)
    2 ATA 100 cable
    1 FDD 3.5' 1.44MB BLACK
    1 Hercules Digifire 7.1
    1 LOGITECH CORDLESS DESKTOP MX

1 LITE ON 48/24/48 IDE RET (beige)
    1 INTEL INBUSINESS 10/100 PCI

    1 LEVELONE ROUTER 4x10/100 ADSL

According to preliminary calculations, I could save up 200-400 Euros by taking this route - either a decent monitor or decent videocard.

        Are those stores near Muenchen?

        alternate.de looks atracting.

I need store where you walk in with cash and walk out with hardware. I also want to buy from 3-4 different stores at most, preferably 1-2.

Mailing bills and collecting MWST from online shops = too much hassle. One needs to demand special export bill at time of paying if one wants to collect it.

MWST can be collected either at border or at shop, after the bills and export were confirmed at borders.

          I am not sure UtwigMU~
sorry I just had my old german comp mag here and i thought i post those up! I think in Muenchen try and search for the following shops:
          Bonsels
          Saturn
          Mediamarkt
          Aldi
But am sure the other germans know more! go guys

scrap that.. aldi is a normal supermarket which sometimes offers pc parts. mediamarkt/saturn are only "megastores" specialised on electronics - usually don't offer the best price, usually far from it.

my advice: send some shops (gelbeseiten.de) the whole list, ask for a good price/offer. especially smaller ones give you quite some rebate if you order the whole system (especially if you don't want them to assemble it).

                I'm looking for
                • 1-2 shops in or arround Munich - 50km max that are likely to have everything I listed
                • no online, plain brick and mortar, where you walk in with cash and walk out with hardware (MWST, see above)

Online shop = no MWST return = higher price.

A quick google search for pc shop münchen turned up these results (among others, you might want to search yourself. might also try laden instead of shop):

IT-Systemhaus, Cloud Service, Handwerkersoftware, Topkontor Handwerk und Zeiterfassung, die Cloud für Kleinbetriebe, Mittelstand und Existenzgründer.

This here looks like a list of shops: http://ip-service.com/Kurs/compshop.html

You might also try the yellow pages: www.gelbe-seiten.de

Ich habe für "Hartware Händel München" gegoogelt.

                    Ich hab' auch www.nb-computer.de gefunden.

Sie haben Tyan Mainboards, ECC Arbeitsspeicher von Infineon und Parhelia Grafikkarten.

                    Die Preise sehen normal aus.

Ich wird die 'nen E-mail schicken.

                      So here's the deal:

W/O MWST (VAT) return: 8.63% cheaper than local dealer prices.

                      With MWST return 26% cheaper.

A discount per quantity and cash payment could yield another 5%, now this looks very attracting.

                          KvHagedorn: Kein Problem.

I'm kicking out the Cordless DesktopMX and adding Parhelia to the list.

Utwig: Search for Hardware with a d instead of a t. That popular german site is spelling it wrong (because hard=hart in german, but hardware=hardware ).

..and maybe "handel" instead of "händel".

here is a nice list, about 60 shops in munich: http://www.gelbeseiten.de/yp/quickSe...=Suche+starten
