          For some odd reason I think that that car souped up with a nice set of OZ wheels and it would be a pretty neat car.
          Titanium is the new bling!

            Actually, on the BBC program Top Gear, they did this once. Some Lotus engineers claimed that they could make any car into a proper driver's car. So Top Gear gave them a Lada... And Lotus was right... (of course, they put in new suspension, new engine, new interior, ...)

              The body is basically sound

              the mechanicals are very basic - ideal for home works....

              the build quality sucked big time....

              reliability was poor, especially the engine - which could throw a piston or break the camshaft if stressed!

              They used to have a chain adjuster for the timing - done through a hole in the front bumper. you had to retension it periodically (ever 2-3Kmiles!) before it slipped and ruined the engine.....
              you could tell that is was due to be done by the rattle of the slack segment of the chain rattleing against the cover.....

              mad!
