How many freezers would remain cold? How could you fill your car? How could you recharge your laptop? How could the emergency generators in hospitals, phone exchanges, ISPs, get more fuel? How would you stop the looting that would inevitably break out? How would water be pumped? How would sewage treatment work? How could emergency services work? How would you power essential security devices? I can assure you that total anarchy would break out on the fourth day because no one would know what was happening because there would be no further means of communication other than the town crier.

A small foretaste of this has been felt in Baghdad, but this is peanuts compared with what would happen in the UK under such conditions.
Thanks Brian you've proved my point effective Terrorism.
In the meantime the rest of world would be going ooh aah. Could it happen here.

You guys are overlooking one beneficial side effect of the blackout: In the past 22 hours I haven't recieved a tenth as much spam as I usually do.

I got power in Richmond Hill, Ontario about 1:00 O'Clock today!

MAN almost 24 hours without internet access or air conditioning, brutal!

          Cheers,

The headline on CNN.com as I write this says: "Outage might have started in Cleveland". They've narrowed it down to the "Lake Erie Loop", but they're not sure exactly where in the loop the initial cause was. I guess it'll take a lot of investigating to trace this back to one root cause.

I'm back too, I got my power back at around 3:30pm. Nothing spoiled in the frigde or freezer. First thing I had to do was a load of laundry, that'l teach me to let it pile up for the weekend.

A bunch of my NYer friends are talking about how they spent their time. One guy got on his motorcycle, and rolled through the city. Another had an interesting field trip, check out the picture!

LOL! I think it was too hot and humid down there to do that though

I also have quite a few pictures from yesterday, but I'm a horrible photographer. Nothing as cool as the pic Wombat posted.

(And a terrible writer too apparently, I made a couple of huge grammatical errors )

What do you think made it that hot and humid Liquid?

                            LOL@ KRSESQ & Sasq!

Anyways... even though we got power back we decided not to turn on the air conditioning. We only turned on the centralized fan, and surprising fan isn't bad at all! Its still pretty cool here (all blinds closed).

Life without AC isn't too bad .
