    Sounds like a great Idea

Seems that there are enough MURCers around TO
We have enough youth - What we need is a fountain of smart!

Tjalfe, I am biased as I only visited Canada once in summer 1992. They tell me that was a particularly bad summer. All I know is that I didn't expect overnight lows of 4 degrees Celcius and high temperatures in the teens in the beginning of July. I haven't been back since, but having experienced a mild English winter I might be tempted to visit one summer (Lots of cousins in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto, Aunt in Manitoba [100m NORTH of Winnepeg] etc.)

Most summers in Toronto are frickin' hot and frickin' humid. Last summer ('02) was particularly bad. I think we set a record for the most consecutive days above 30C. Somthing like 25 days straight. This summer was quite pleasant in comparison. Averaged in the high 20s. Had a bit of a cold snap last week, down into the low teens, but today it's back up the around 25C.

Also, Montreal is a great city, even for english folk like me. I have a friend who's lived there most of his life, and he's an english speaking jewish guy. Sure, the french people have some whacky ideas with their language laws and such, but they're mostly nice people. I've spent many a long weekend barhopping around the downtown area until like 5am. Never had a problem.
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

I wish you the best in this fine endeavor!

...oh...and perhaps we could indeed do a MURC gettogether in Canada...would be quite fun!

Given that I'm in minnesota, a few hundred km south of the Canadian border, it shouldn't be too expensive to get to Canada and then take the train (I take it that the train system in Canada is quite a bit better than Amtrack)

                                We have a train system?

Seriously though, Via Rail is pretty good on the Windsor-Toronto-Montreal corridor, but elsewhere I couldn't tell ya.
