Putting a radio telescope on the far side of the moon, which always faces away from the Earth, is an advantage for any telescope bur particularly for radio telescopes.
Placed in this manner the telecsope would, for most of the month, be shielded from interference coming not only from the earth but also solar events.

You know, I really don't want to build or excavate the moon. Our ancestors have seen the same moon for as long as there has been life on this planet. Who are we to suddenly decide to "renovate" it?Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

um.. no. Mine the hell out of the moon and it will still be the same as we see it from Earth.. who cares? You're being irrational. Preserving the ecosystem from manic destruction by profit hungry megacorps is of absolute importance. We are talking about the circle of life versus a lifeless rock.
