It's the 16yo Lagavulin that I got. I want to try the Sherry and Port Wood Glenmorangies next.. I've heard lots of good things about them, and they aren't too expensive.

Yeah, it's the 16yo bottle. BTW, it IS there, but for some reason, I can't link to it. IF you type 'Lagavulin' in the search it will take you to it.

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.
Unfortunately I can't do what I would "Really" like to go and do right now.
Denty - Not Logic that's easy stuff....... I'm doing Flash Memory these days. Flash is a Pain in the Arse!!! - 2 Poly levels instead of just one like Logic. ARRRRGH!!!!
I really want to go get some new Scotch, go home and get BLASTED
BUT....
I guess it's time to go to our wonderful cafeteria and find some gastronomically distressing but edible substance to sustain me until this evening....
Bowmore is on my list to try one of these days. I went out and got a bottle of 18yo Highland Park today. It came with a free copy of Michael Jackson's Malt Whiskey Companion, a great book detailing the various distilleries, their histories, ratings of their releases, and some general info on Scotch. (This is a different Michael Jackson.. not the boy-loving pop star.) The book is $20 from Amazon. I was actually going to try the 12yo until I saw the free book with the 18yo.
The Highland Park 18yo is very similar to the Glenmorangie 18yo in many ways.. with maybe a hint less sherry and a hint more peat. It's really excellent.. light and mellow but with a zing at the end.
By the way.. MJ's ratings on the scotches mentioned here:
Like anyone, the guy seems to have his biases.. he rates Glenmorangie about 10 points lower than almost everyone else does, and Macallan can do no wrong. He's probably the most prominent expert in the field though. The rating scale seems to go from 50-100 with 50 being absolutely horrible and 100 unattainable perfection. The only rating I saw in that book that was over 95 was for a 50yo Macallan at 96. This malt sells for over $4000.00.
I found something interesting today. I'm spending too much money on this now, by the way, so this was a great blessing. I got a package with 4 50ml bottles of Glenmorangie. Included were the ten year old, and the port, sherry, and madeira wood finishes. The ten year old was better than I expected it to be.. a very good all-around Scotch at a good price. No wonder this is the best selling Scotch in Scotland. The port wood is my favorite of the wood finishes, I think, followed by the sherry and lastly the madeira. I didn't really like the madeira too much, but I suppose it could grow on me.
Now relaxing with a nice jigger of the Highland Park 18yo.. damn, this is good stuff!
