The port has a richer, more complex flavor. The sherry is more like many other Speyside malts. You should pick up the sampler if you could find it.. it was only $20.00, and my store is an overpriced local monopoly.

WOW! We have totally different opinions on this. I felt the Sherry was much more rich in flavor yet the port was a tad smoother but on the flat side.

You can get the wood finishes for as little as $34.99. Check out Bevmo.

Guys.. trust me, buy a bottle of Highland Park 18yo. This stuff is so good and really reasonably priced for a fine 18yo. I got it for $80 at my overpriced store, and it included this cool $20 book.

              Found it online.. $71.99

I prefer port to sherry (sherry seems a bit too sweet to me)
I like Cockburn's Special Reserve Port - Ruby, or Taylor's Ruby Port
(I dont have a lot of selections easily over here)

Single malt -> never had the chance of getting any of the above but my favourite is Glenfiddich 18 yrs but more regularly drink Chivas 12 yrs.

I dont mind Jack Daniels with soda (tastes so sweet with coke that u cant appreciate the whiskey) when i cant get my favourites .

What you guys think of Glenfiddich?

Belwarrior, try the Highland Park or the 18yo Macallan. I've never tried the older Glenfiddich, only the generic kind with no age statement. I thought it was pretty good til I tried 12yo Glenlivet, then I thought that was good until I tried the Macallan and Glenmorangie. Now I keep reaching for the Highland Park 18yo.

hmmm, you've got my interest peaked, I may have to try the Higland Park.
As for Glenfiddich, I'm not too keen on the 12 yr, but the 18yr is verrry smooth. I'd also recommend trying the solara reserve 15 yr.

I just bought a bottle of Ardbeg 17 yr old and it is excellent!!

                        Ardbeg 17 Years Old:

This single Islay malt is revered by connoisseurs as a truly extraordinary whisky. Ardbeg Single Malt stands alone as the most delicate and complex of all the Islay malts. It does not flaunt the
peat; rather it gives way to the malt, the natural sweetness of which subtly permeates and produces the perfect balance.

Which do you like better, Paul.. the Ardbeg or the Bowmore?

I'd say the Ardbeg. It's much more balanced and has a sweeter after taste. The Bowmore has a stronger smoke flavor though.
