The Eagles did not record that song originally.
Close though.
A certain member of the Eagles did it during his own sucessful solo career (though, there is a live recording where he did the song in concert with the Eagles, and promoted himself for president)
I saw this guy in concert once at Red Rocks, and he was SO wasted... Came out to his piano, which was surrounded by helium balloons. Pulled down a balloon, inhaled deeply, and did a chipmunk version of the Eagles tune 'Desparado'

edit: and I do know that tune from pickle boy....struggling with the artist though.
Might be Leo Sayer, but not sure on that...

edit2: the artist of my song was also a part of the bands 'The Barnstormers' and 'James Gang' (pre-Tommy Bolin). My favorite song from this artist is the rarely heard "ILBT (I Like Big Tits)
