TP: I know... but it would only end up consting us £100 more each month and my wages will increase to more than compensate that.....

The other option is to find a cheap place to rent for a year. We could then pay off our debt and save for a deposit (assuming the wife is back in work).
The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

Well, a small update. Having had solicitors work at a snail's pace for several months, along with other parties involved along the way, we finally exchanged contracts on Thursday just gone. We complete on the Thursday coming up (or Wednesday if the mortgage company can come through with the cash any quicker) - so I get the keys then

Which is lucky really, as I now only have 2 weeks left on the lease to the place I am renting at the moment...

But it does mean I might be a little busy in the coming weeks

            Congrats George

I've never found a solicitor be especially proactive when it comes to conveyancing. If you don't mind when you move then it's not a problem, otherwise you have to drag them along.

I hope you got a good long low deal on the mtge.

Mortgage is fine and affordable for the foreseeable (unless I jack it all in and head off west on the sunny side of the street)... have funded it all OK with some left over for curtains and paint

                    Congrats on getting in!

You could always try the Mr Bean method of decorating...stick of dynamite in a tin of paint! I was going to suggest doing that with paint stripper first, but the explosion might be bigger than you were expecting
