But with the numerous dated architectural styles seen here, I'd be very surprised if this was anywhere in the US.....

In what way is this "easy?" I suppose if you are a world traveller and have had the money and occasion to see every city on the planet it might be easy..

Alright, from what I can see, it is very flat, with a body of water in the background, possibly an inlet or river. The streets seem to be on a squarish grid pattern. Looks like an industrial city in America somewhere, but nothing in the pic tells me where. Baltimore?

Hmmm! I'm surprised that no one got it, at least yet.

Clues: it is in N. America. The city population in 1996 was 1,016,376 and the 2001 estimate of the metropolitan area was 3,511,800. It has a world-famous Botanical Garden and is noted for being environmentally sensitive. It headquarters at least two UN organisations. It had a number of traditional industries, but has gone quite hi-tech in telecomms and pharmaceuticals in recent years. It has an underground city of streets and shops.

        Need more clues?

Bravo, KvH, spot-on! Which clue gave it to you?

I took the photo from the offices of the UNMLF (Multilateral Fund) secretariat.

            Your turn!

I knew about the underground shopping center.. the population sounded right, so I googled for montreal botanical gardens, and there was a significant one.

                Here's one.. might be difficult..

                            Definitely not toronto.

It does look familiar though. I'll go with houston too, even though I'm pretty sure that's wrong as well

Definitely is Toronto! The CN tower kind of gives it away.
