Ah you changed the pic...
Should be north america as the it looks like right hand traffic. Canada or northern part of US based on the vegetation.
And as all the cities in that area look more or less the same it's like picking out a needle in a hay stack...
Unless I'm totally wrong!

Montreal?
Edit: I think I'm wrong, there wouldn't be english signs in Montreal...Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

Ah! That's not very difficult for me. That is the Archbishop Makarios III statue, situated outside the Nicosia Archbishopric/Cathedral of Ayios Ioannis (St John). It is within the ancient walled city formed by a circular moat (now dry) and walls, built by the Venetians. The walls are about 1600 m diameter and have 13 defensive bastions projecting into the moat.
The statue in question is a couple of hundred metres from the "Green Line" which still impreganbly divides the old city, making Nicosia the only divided capital city in the world (since the 1974 invasion by the Turkish Army). Happily, the minefields along the division are being cleared, but it is unlikely that anyone will be able to cross the line before several months.
Archbishop Makarios III was the first President of the Republic of Cyprus, inaugurated in 1960. It may seem strange that an ecclesiastic became head of state (other than the Pope), but the reason goes back to the 5th c, when a Gospel, purported to be written by St Luke, was found in the tomb of St Barnabas (the guy who accompanied St Paul on many of his missions). This was presented to the Byzantine Emperor Zeno who, in return, granted autocephaly (independence) to the Church of Cyprus and temporal powers to the archbish, still held today. The present archbish is totally gaga so cannot exercise any powers, temporal or ecclesiastic, but it seems likely a Synod will replace him this year.
