  • Battle erupts @ Russian school....

    Just watching FOX and CNN.

Major combat has erupted at the Russian school taken by terrorists a couple of days ago. Current estimates put 900-1000 people in the school, mostly children.

Machine gun and rifle fire, major explosions, RPG's....you name it. It's been going on for at least 20 minutes so far and still sounds like a war zone. Also: just saw two tactical choppers fly over the school. One of 'em is an MI-8, looks like a special forces chopper....perhaps Russian Alpha team, The other looks like a gunship.

This is NOT sporadic fire either....it's full blown hell on wheels.

The Russians say they were given clearance by the terrorists for squads to remove the dead bodies on the school grounds. Could be they were ambushed and all hell has broken loose.

Just saw a stream of people leaving the area...looked like some kids and a few adults...maybe 20-30 of 'em. Reporters say bullets are hitting the ground near their position a block away.

Say some prayers for them guys, even if you're not religious....they're gonna need them.

Interfax (Russian news agency) is reporting that the schools roof has collapsed. More gunfire....choppers still circling. More explosions....

Scenes now of a MASH unit with people on gurneys & litters set up some distance from the school. Injured kids being led/carried to the unit by Russian forces and most are undressed. Looks like they're trying to cool 'em off since there was no cooling for 2 days.

Many of the kids & adults are covered with blood...dunno if from others or if they're injured/shot. Some certainly are as they are on litters.

LOTS of military activity. The troops definitely look like special forces/Alpha team, and there are LOTS of them.

Interfax saying 20-30 kids/adults broke out and this may have set things off.

MORE choppers incoming....also sounds like some fixed-wing aircraft overhead. STILL firing automatic weapons. Vehicles coming in that look like command & control units and what looks like another whole unit of the Russian Alpha team.

We have TANKS....and armored cars....moving in. Also hear ambulances.

Some are now saying there may have been a revolt amongst the hostages. There were only 12-17 terrorists and 1000 +/- hostages, so it's possible....

      This is getting extremely ugly.....

When this is done they should put these SOB's up on stakes & burn 'em alive....

Latest is 200 hostages injured, 5 terrorists killed and 12-13 terrorists escaped into the city...

Man, I would love it if the public catches those ****ers before the troops do-who cares about lowering themselves to their level, this should be a very painful lynch-mob death they should have.

And the fact of the matter is, Putin can't back down...if Chechnya is given independence 30 other damn "countries" will also want it. If they could only realize how pointless their quest for "freedom" is...the way the USSR organized things, the industry in most of these territories is geared towards one product and nothing else, the whole point before was to share what they all made. All those Kerpluchistani republics are an economic disaster because of it. But hey, they've got freedom, that's sooo important for your mind when your stomach is empty.

you know these terrorists carrying out these (now) weekly attacks are in their 20s to 40s. It came to me that they grew up back then, when people were so much calmer and happier than they are now, yet there are so many people of that generation wanting to do these things.
The children in the Islamic world born during the 1980s and 1990s have grown up during far less happy times. The media, cartoons, music, television, newspapers, are stuffed full of vulerant racism directed towards Jews and Europeans. Look at any Arab newspaper for examples.

I think we can expect to see alot more of this kind of thing in the future than there is today. It keeps spiralling upwards. No 'war on terrorism' does anything to stop this. The cause is simply there are lots of unhappy people. If they were happy, they wouldn't do these things.

~200 still in the school with the 3 leaders of the terrorists. Apparently they're holed up in the basement and still shooting.

Also: Russian authorities say 20 terrorists dead, including a large number of what they are calling "Arab mercenaries".

                    Hmmmmm......mercenaries or Hamas/AQ?

Mostly agree with this however being happy or unhappy is neither here or there. These people are being used as tools and are too dumb too to know it.

Latest 150 dead over 400 injured.

As you'll probably know, the USA in the 1980s was funding and training Islamist terrorists to fight the Soviet Union. After the mess in Afghanistan subsided, the Arab fighters left the country, many went back to whence they came to seed al Qaeda. Not many people know that a fair number of these fighters also went to the Caucasus to fight the Christian infidels. There're probably still some of them muddling around after all this time.

Anyway, it is great that some of the hostages managed to survive this, I expect the plan was to kill almost all of them.
What puzzles me is why they were without their clothes

That's a bit simplistic and more fable than fact. The roots of AQ go MUCH further back than that.

You can trace AQ back to the Muslim Brotherhood and Egyptian Islamic Jihad; the group that asassinated Anwar Sadat in the early '70's. One of the leaders of EIJ, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, later became Osama Bin Laden's right hand man and the operational head of AQ.

One of EIJ's other leaders was Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, AKA: "the blind sheik". Rahman was the leader of the cell that executed the World Trade Center bombing in 1993, which is now considered AQ's first true international operation.

Still not over apparently they're some scum still in the school basement with hostages.

Two escaping scum were caught by the locals and were beaten to death.
