Apparently the blood banks are coping OK, but as ever more is appreciated. Generally the attitude in London seems to be pretty chipper and people are making light of it. And of course moaning LOTS about having to walk home. I have a feeling that for a large proportion of office workers this will turn into a pub crawl home... The overground is all working OK now apart from those that run from Kings Cross/St Pancras as the emergency services are using that as a base. Latest from TFL (the public transport body in London) is the following:

I actually find it deeply impressive that they are trying to get the tube running again tomorrow morning. Reduced service will actually be something fairly decent if prior experience is anything to go by.

At least my Brother Law is safe as they didn't attack Euston where he works. As for him getting home to his family tonight thats probably doubtful.

Death count over 30 at the moment and will continue rise no doubt.

Hopefully the Government will now wake up and stop pussy footing around with house
arrests and actually boot out these undesirables who have no intention of contributing to our society. Rather they prefer to destroy it by bringing communities against each other for there own gains.

Again the evil side of Islam has been shown and theres only one set of people who can stop that. The question is do they want too or are they too afraid??

As for Britain burning in fear. No we're angry and pissed off. We're going to take their threats their violence and survive becuase all all they know is hate and how to destroy.

Joint statement form the MCB and Churches Together

Deepest sympathy is expressed at the death and suffering which the series of co-ordinated attacks in London has caused to the families and loved ones who have been the victims of this terrible atrocity.

This criminal attack is condemned in the strongest possible terms. No good purpose can be achieved by such an indiscriminate and cruel use of terror.

The scriptures and the traditions of both the Muslim and Christian communities repudiate the use of such violence. Religious precepts cannot be used to justify such crimes, which are completely contrary to our teaching and practice.

We continue to resist all attempts to associate our communities with the hateful acts of any minority who claim falsely to represent us. In the present uncertainties, we look to all community leaders to give an example of wisdom, tolerance and compassion.

The events of recent years have challenged Muslims and Christians to work together in order to acknowledge our differences, to affirm our common humanity, and to seek ways to share life together. Much has already been achieved, and nothing must undermine the progress that we have made. These attacks strengthen our determination to live together in peace, and to grow together in mutual understanding.

This crime must inspire us to work unceasingly together in pursuit of peace, justice and respect for difference.

Thankfully everyone I've checked with is Ok. My brother in law works at the London Stock Exchange so he's usually the first on my list to call. Like a lot of places in the city they locked the staff in, the doors have now been opened so they're starting the long trek home.

Who these people belong to and who they claim to represent is irrelevant, they're murderers and there can be no excuse for their actions.

Don't worry someone will try to justify it don't worry they always do.

From Slate there is a brief article that goes to show how strong the fortitude of the people in London is.

                  My favorite lines:
And when I walked by the Queen's Larder Pub, not half a mile from the Tavistock Square wreckage, at 11 a.m., a half-dozen men were sitting together at a sidewalk table, hoisting their morning pints of ale. Civilization must go on, after all.
It's a sad day for all, but the best we can give to those who died in these horrid acts is to celebrate life as best we can.

Sounds like a winner to me. These guys almost make drawing and quartering sound like a good way to do it

I see ABC News is reporting that 2 un-exploded bombs have been found along with the timing device of one of those that did go off.

Lots can be learned from bomb parts as each bomb builder has their own MO.

I somehow hope it would be so easy. But at the same time doubt it...

Oh well, guess we'll have to still pay the sins of modernity for some time to come (uhmm...perhaps ignore the last sentence; I'm writing something big about postmodernism so I'm brainwashed at the moment...)

                          What's a MO? Like a signature?

Put into perspective with the statistics that 30,000 people in Africa die of poverty each day, and all the troubles in Iraq (car bombs / general unrest). It seems relitavely insignificant.

But it happened close to home and for the people who witnessed it it must have been horiffic . Anyone who commits any act like this must be brought to justice.

It is good that the leaders are still going ahead and negotiating at the G8 summit tomorrow.

I'm all for punishment and revenge, but that wasn't my point.
