Not sure there's really anything you can say Liz. If you're not in a position to change her living conditions or location, then the best you can do is comfort her in other ways. When you speak to or visit her, try to steer the conversation unto lighter topics; bring up things that will make her smile or that she has fond memories of. It's not an easy position to be in, I know.Last edited by Jessterw; 11 July 2005, 21:51.“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

You obviously care about her a great deal. I'm sure if you write her letters and call her she will look forward to those things. I'm not sure how close you are to going back up north but I'm sure she would love a letter from you telling her how you are going to come visit her. Just a suggestion anyway.Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

anyone else notice that iced tea tastes kinda like dried seaweed?"And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make? They finally put a god damned shell back in." -jwz

How it goes depends on her condition and the type of "nursing home".
If she gets around OK and she's in the right place (often called an assisted living home) then things could go OK. Some of those places rock pretty hard, as my wifes aunt can attest. They go on trips, party and generally raise hell....much to the shagrin of the staff
