Is Chuck's new ride not a 2 stroke? I don't think he included specs in his post and I didn't take the time to verify myself.

Anytime you see a weird exhaust pipe that goes from small to huge, and back again, it's for a 2-stroke. It has something to do with keeping proper backpressure into the motor or something.

Hey, while we're on about gas mileage, give this thread a serious read. After reviewing the initial links, skim the first few pages, and then really focus on the last 4 or so. Worth the read, and can save you a lot of money...

The idea is to have a shockwave bounce back and forth in there with a pressure trough passing the exhaust port when the piston opens it up.

Not much point in a 4 stroke where the piston mechanically forces the exhaust out.

Well, that, and the fact that you have an exhaust valve opening and closing, which also prevents exhaust gases from being sucked back into the combustion chamber.
