the problem here isn't really even the illegal drugs, its the alcohol, gas, glue etc, because most of the people on those substances can't afford the "good" stuff... But like I said, it's pretty concentrated to certain parts of town

The media here likes to keep us 'happy and sheltered' and prefers not to make such stories too popular

I think for us Canadians and in particular us in Winnipeg, more attention should be made to these problems in the schools and media, in particular the history of Residential Schools, its pretty sad how we have just thrown these problems under the rug

Speaking of holocausts, the one hardly mentioned and one of the excuses for the WW2 holocaust is the Armenian one. When Hitler was asked whether the world will stand silent while he 'cleanses' it from jews, he said that nobody said a word when the Turks did that to the Armenians. Too bad the Israeli government still didn't acknowledge the Armenian holocaust just so they won't hurt the trade and diplomacy with Turkey.

I thought it was 6 million people. Among those were gypsys, homosexuals, communists, etc., though the majority were, yes, Jews. But wait.. what about the 20 million people killed by Stalin? The forced famine and gulags took care of them.. wonder why no one ever does a TV movie decrying these murders? I suppose if there were any Ukrainians running the media companies here, they would.

Yeah, and that's when talking about ethnic groups, but when it comes to nationallity...

You won't see many movies about the "other holocausts" because they were perpetrated by socialist states (USSR, China etc.), and far too many in media are sympathetic to socialist theology. About the only major studio effort was "The Killing Fields" which documented the Cambodian holocaust, and that was 21 years ago.

Let's also not forget that term NAZI is a short form of the German (NA)tionalso(ZI)alismus (National Socialism)

Ou, didn't know that...doesn't give much moral backbone to Israel when dealing with Holocaust, etc. :/
