Point in fact, y'all ought to know that I mean "Christian Fundamentalists".

HOWEVER, my Aunt and Uncle, who are in fact a minister and wife - Assemblies of God, pretty average born-again Christians the likes of which populate this country... actually thought that Harry Potter contained SATANIC INCANTATIONS. When we told them it was Latin and Greek, they went to see the movie - with us - and now they're fans because they saw the overriding positive picture.

But there's a wall of ignorance up around the fundamentalists that you have to climb over or use a tank on... and sometimes it's just too thick.

It the only thing that really relates! For some reason certain selective things are blocked...so, at the roots, it shows what people want to search, in relation to White House. So also with what they are concerned most in relation to it, or, looking other way around, with what White House wants to make people most concerned (in practise it would be a bit hard to distinguish...probably both things mix to some extent)
And "shot it down"...give me a brake - you provided arguments that these subjects are most popular - that they are blocked to not hog down the site.

You tell us that there's a robots.txt file on the white house server. Who cares? Why should we care? Clearly you think we should care; you think the world should care; you think there's some newsworthy item of merit there.

Here's the problem - we don't care, the world doesn't care, and it's not worthy of even discussing except for the fact that we're astonished at your need to find a problem here.

So WHAT IS YOUR POINT? WHY SHOULD WE CARE?

If you can't answer that question - and stop dancing around the subject - then I (and others, I suspect) will just put you on "ignore" and get on with our lives.

Actually I provided an entirely different explanation than that. Even assuming these directories/pages are being blocked because they're popular search targets, it doesn't show anything other than people are searching for topics the are currently relevant. Wow, that's shocking

It just occurred to me that what Nowhere might be getting at is not only the quantity of entries in the file, but the fact that all seem related to one degree or another to the various controversies of the Bush administration, and there seems to be a LOT of stuff in there that is search-blocked. Not for any nefarious purpose, as others have pointed out, but simply to keep the server free for more immediate White House-related business.

As my grandpa used to say, "just because it smells like a rat doesn't mean it's a rat. It might be a 'possum." I think I just figured out what he meant.
