Hey! Not all Euro-Dance-Trance-House-Spunk-Junk-Breeze-Zaideco DJ "music" is boring. You just have to find the right mix.

Been hooks on "She Wants Revenge" (name of the band) lately. Tear You Apart is a fantastic song in a ... strange and demented way. These Things Sister is pretty good, too. Haven't heard the whole album yet, though. It's a mix between New Order, Bloodhound Gang (song lyric-wise, not musical style), and The Cure, if that makes any sense.

I'm listening to "The Girl In the Other Room" now and I'm not into it.

Anybody have anymore recommendations for singers like Norah Jones?

Look into her musical roots. Try Nina Simone.

Nina Simone is great but very bluesy.

I am a big fan of Norah Jones and I like here because she is able to be a little popish while still retaining a very good foundation in jazz and blues.

Speaking of women singers I like, I'm gonna throw one out there... Ilse Delange. She's Dutch, I believe, but sings pop-country songs. I dunno, I'm kind of a sucker for that type of stuff.

For some great blues check out Eric Bibb. He lives in the UK but born in New York and is nephew to one of the Modern Jazz Quartet members. Very lovely, soulful, spiritual music but in a way that isn't just Christian or Catholic (I'm far from being Christian yet I still enjoy it).

Some others to check out are Jack Johnson and G-Love with Special Sauce. If into electronica/turn-table stuff look up Sound Tribe Sector Nine. You can get some live shows of these guys from Archive.org's Live Music Archive.

Nothing wrong with Norah Jones at all. Listening to some of her live stuff recorded at the House of Blues right now

Yeah, that's exactly why I like her.

Have a blast and dig out some good old Glen Miller! In the Mood was on the radio during the commute this morining - all the drivers queueing around me were suddenly bouncing up and down and playing air-sax, air-trombone, air-baton etc etc

My tastes have always been wide ranging, but lately I've been listening to:

                    * The Fray - How To Save a Life
                    * Stereophonics - Language. Sex. Violence. Other?
                    * Eric Clapton - Me and Mr. Johnson
                    * Otis Redding, Ryan Adams, Wheat, Ulrich Schnauss, Pinback

Just listened to Katie Mulua's album.

Thanks but I'm not into it.

She's got a great voice. She should be on Broadway. She announciates really well. But I found the songs in her album boring and although I thought that she sang them very well, she didn't seem to "own" them. There was no passion there that I found.
