Umm... just for contention, doesn't a full size UZI fire 10 rounds PER SECOND?

SMG cyclic rates vary somewhat...The biggest variable is the ammunition.
Emperical tests with the Uzi Submachinegun firing US ammunition put the cyclic rate at about 540-570 RPM depending on the manufacturer: The Israeli ammo is really hot and will up the cyclic rate to about 620 RPM. Some UZis shoot faster than others becuse they run with lightened bolts or a recoil buffer which shortens the action stroke. The UZI lends itself to tinkering with the cyclic rate with a fair amount of ease.
The Sterling MKIV SMG shoots about 575 RPM with US ammunition. The Suppressed Sterling MKV runs right at 700RPM again with US ammunition. The higher cyclic rate is attributable to the lighter breechblock used in the MKV - the MKV Suppressor is really only built for semi-automatic firing, however.
The HK MP5s average about 700RPM with US ammo. The MP5-PDW will go a bit higher than that because of how the Roller Locking mechanism of the HK works; Suppressed MP5-PDWs need a special bolt carrier with a steeper roller angle to keep from beating themselves to death: otherwise the cyclic rate will skyrocket to around 1,100RPM, and the cartridge cases will be ejected violently with a good chance of being bulged aaround the casehead because of premature ejection.
The Suppressed MP5SD uses an internally ported barrel and a shallower roller angle bolt carrier: it's cyclic rate is identical to the MP5 under normal conditions.
