Am in bed for ~6½-7 h, but it takes me a little time to actually drop off. I wake up usually about 2½ h before I get up and do some fitful short naps, perhaps 5 to 8 thereafter, with a guestimated average 10 minutes wakefulness between them, so I plonked for 5-6 h of actual sleep. Used to sleep like a log for 6-7 h when younger.Brian (the devil incarnate)

I used to work on about 5 hours a night on a routine basis... until I f***ed my metabolism. Now I really need 8 hours. However, after over a year of routine sleep deprivation (courtesy of Jacob) I'm nearly narcoleptic. The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.
