This means that every man, woman, child, baby or anything in between, poor or rich, in the USA travelled an average of 4,333 miles in long-distance (i.e. not daily commuting/shopping/driving kids to school/going to cinema etc.) travel. Is this credible?

That's about right for our family this year.
I don't know whether we are an "average" family travel-wise or not though.

2400 mile trip to my Mom in North Carolina and back by airplane
1500 miles to Becky's sister in Denver, and then off to the Mountains and back all by car.
1000 miles (about) in trips to visit Becky's family in Texas by car.

There is one thing that Europeans or rest of the world don’t understand about United States and its need for travel.

As a country, United States has more attractions to offer then the whole Europe does! It doesn’t matter what you like to do, there will be a place for you to go to without leaving the country.

It was stated before that 80% of Americans don't leave their home state, I find that Total Bullshit considering the population layout of the county (heavily populated coasts), For Example if you lived in NJ, its Impossible not to get out of the state since it only would take just over an hour from just about any place in the state to get into another.

Maybe out in the Midwest where the population density is spread out more over a larger area people wouldn't get out of their state, but otherwise its BS.

Right now I'm at 16K mile alone, just driving in my car, which is only about 9 months old, just from driving to work (about 20 miles one way) and driving to my GF's place and just doing normal travelling for food and all.

Huge population.
And you could sight see in CA for the rest of your life and not run out of things to see in-state.

Also, I was just talking about trips. We put about 12,000 miles/year on our cars just running errands and commuting.

Total non sequitur. It's about long-distance travel alone, not commuting to work, as is clearly stated.

Americans total 1.3 trillion person-miles (that's ~ .23 light year) of long distance travel a year on about 2.6 billion long distance trips.

This does happen on regular bases, not only because of the modern Gold Rush movement (whenever Power Ball, Mega Millions or any other Lottery in a neighboring state goes over 150 Millions in prize money) but also for cheaper cigarettes or even gas!

For most outsiders it’s hard to picture the Expressways & Highways structure in US and how little time does it take to travel from one state to the other.

I've travelled widely in both continents and both have very beautiful (and very ugly) things to see, including national parks, volcanoes, mountains etc. Things may be different between them, yes, but to say that Europe has nothing is just plumb ignorant. Europe may even have more variety, as its N-S range goes from well North of the Arctic circle, down to desert regions in Spain.

Not really, I've been in Europe more than you think and no, I didn't see the whole Europe. But I did see quite a bit.

Anyway Brian, it’s not that difficult to rack up the miles here.

I just went to Walt Disney World in Florida with my wife & kids. Rough estimate is 2500 miles for round trip from Chicago.
All we need is one more trip and we’re somewhere there within the numbers… .

A few years back me & my wife drove from Chicago thru Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, North Dakota and back to Chicago (vacation trip), we put 4500 miles in less then 2 weeks of driving.

You might not appreciate how large the US is travelling by plane or looking at a map, but I guaran-fricking-tee you that if you drive from NYC through Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis then cut west through the Dakotas to Seattle then back by the southern route you'll damn well appreciate it when you're finished.
