The Civic, in fact, is larger in all dimensions except height and shoulder room. So why?
      I've wondered that too.
Having driven both, the Civic just feels bigger.
(and don't worry about the trunk size, it's a great shape and holds a LOT of luggage)

My car does about 40MPG (UK) Which is 48MPG (US). It is a family sized car similar size to a Ford Taurus???

      110Bhp 2.1 TD Peugeot 406.
      Umm, that doesn't make sense.
You should get more miles out of an imperial gallon.

Yes, I felt that, too. It may be that it's the seating position that is different. I think the squab of the seat is slightly shorter and lower from the floor in the Prius. Certainly, the floor was higher. Of the two, I definitely felt more comfortable in the driving position of the Civic and my wife, as passenger, said the same (particularly in the back seat, as well as the front).

I see the Lexus 450h is also classed as a compact, even though it is comparatively enormous (~15 inches longer)

How did you get those metric numbers? I'm confused.

(as my math teacher would have said, you only get 1/4 the points because you didn't include the way you calculated it! lol)

Here is how I would work it out.
This shows you what kind of student I was.

mpg to km/gallon: multiply by 1.62
                  km/gallon to km/litre: divide by 4.54
now you have a number in km/litre
                  invert (1/x) gives you litres/km
                  multiply x 100 give you litres/100 km

I made a mistake on my calcs... sorry.

So my car is equiv to US 33MPG. (40UK MPG).

The aim on the US website to get 40MPG plus vehicles seems quite hard. A new Peugeot 407 manual diesel family sized car 42MPG US, 53.2 MPG UK(5.3 l/ 100km).

I swear alot of the impressions that lots of american cars are gas guzzlers is surely down to people forgetting that gallons are different sizes, making the US look worse.

Doing 70MPH(+) vs 55MPH must eat away at the efficiency difference.

That's in the winter. As we know everyting expands when it's warmer. So at an standard temperature of 20 C it's actually 1.62

                        I usually use 1.6, don't know why I wrote 1.62

The 406 is smaller car then the Taurus...the old generation one was a large mid-sized, almost full sized car that is larger then an Accord or Camry. The name was revived this year and its a full-sized car now, replacing the Ford Five Hundred nameplate. The closest thing to a 406 would be the Ford Fusion, not to be confused with the mini-suv in Europe

Its hard to directly compare cars from Europe to ones in the States...for example the Accord in Europe is smaller then the one in the States, and we get the Euro Model sold as a Luxury Model call an Acura TSX.
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

Just been on the website. Yep my mistake, the Fusion looks similar to the Mondeo.

                                Is it a popular car?
