Yesterday, I bid £3.50 for an item that Amazon offers for £5. I was outbid, fair enough. But why would anyone offer £6.80 for an item that Amazon sells for £5??????

Because people on ebay are like dogs. Once they've bitten something, they won't let go. They have to have that item. Even if another auction ands five minutes later and is (sometimes a lot) cheaper.
I've seen 25 EUR vouchers go for over 30! -

I remember I used to go to real live auctions - a lot.
I made a lot of good deals there, but the deal was always to know the cap and walk.

I am sure that part of the reason is that these folks have accumulated their funds thru paypal, and the prefer using this money rather than credit card or cash.
That and they don't have to get off their fat behinds

I've been looking at buying a tablet pc the past couple weeks. One thing I've noticed is that half the auctions for the tablets end up getting relisted because the winner didn't want to buy.

Do you have a specific model in mind? The Tecra M7 has a high-res screen, but it's too large and heavy to really be used as a tablet, and it's not quiet. I also have the impression that Windows Tablet PC Edition is slow, somehow. And I found I really don't use the tablet functionality too much.Comment

Only if you can find a taker.
