If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Riiiiiight, so now they're not JUST evil alien cyborgs, they're also DOPPELGANGERS?
Also their internal programming doesn't seem to be all that hot, since they all sat around saying "well **** this I'm not going to do the Cylon thing, I'll just keep being human!"The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

Well it wouldn't be the first time a Cylon made the decision not to follow through and do the Cylon thing. It's entirely possible the five never had any programming that was to be triggered. They are, after-all, different than even their human-like counterparts. We also know that their programming doesn't necessarily dictate who they become or how they feel once they become aware of their true nature. Athena is a perfect example of that, as was Boomer right after she shot Adama (guess it could be said that those are both in the nature of the Sharon model).“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

One of the QA's in that thread asks that question, and Ron Moore said they had that all worked out before they told the actor he was going to be a cylon and claims it will make sense when they explain it.
I personally don't think the show has jumped the shark, even though those four are cylons. If the explanation is horrid I may change my mind, but for now I don't think so.“Inside every sane person there’s a madman struggling to get outâ€

Well normally I'd be inclined to agree with you, but supposedly the final five are MORE ADVANCED models, which would imply that they came LATER and didn't have the same "bugs" (and the rest of them DID consider Xena and Sharon's traits to be "flaws").The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

I don't know that it has ever been said that they are "more advanced," just "special in some way." Special enough that their existence has been hidden from the rest of the Cylon populace/race/wahtever. Special enough that they are object of awe among the Cylons. But more advanced...I dunno, I don't remember that ever being said. Maybe implied in some way, but not outright said.“Inside every sane person there’s a madman struggling to get outâ€

I know it seems unbelievable that they can't have episodes ready in the fall, but since they
didn't even have a commitment to the series until the last episode aired, they didn't start
the development process for season 4. That backed them up several months. Which would
put them starting episodes in ~Nov time frame (smack in the middle of sweeps). Cable
stations seem to like starting new episodes during the rerun/non-sweeps period of the
broadcasters' schedule and not during sweeps (NOV/FEB/MAY). I think that is why they are
planning a 2008 return for BSG and not in the fall.

I think it's in error to consider the Cylons a monolithic entity. There's something about the final five that it seems as if there may be a separate group of Cylons working with different motives than the main race.
As for Thrace, she's probably going to be some kind of demigod. BSG has at least built up enough of a mythology that gods exist in their universe.Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. IF the chief and others are Cylons, then the writers screwed up.
It was only explained this season (after the exodus from new caprica) that the remaining cylon models we had not seen were not like the rest hence the ones running the base stars (talking to god/verbal outbusts noone understood remember this anyone?)
If this is how it things are to be followed, then no wonder SciFi is droppinng the series as they foresee the alienation of its fan base with this idea/plot swingBetter to let one think you are a fool, than speak and prove it
