Local media news flash - The Mccanns went to yet another press conference, leaving the twins unattended, home alone for 2 hours.
    Great parenting there...

Ehm, of course anything said above, the names, identities, whatever I write or my own existence for that matter is Pure speculation.

We'll know one way or the other pretty soon...

With the info i've gleaned, I am leaning towards the 'They covered it up' more than the child abduction.
A child abductor wouldn't have had much time to do his evil deed, and couldn't have cleaned up after him, and would have most assuredly left behind some DNA evidence somewhere in the apartment.
The lack of said 'evil doers' DNA, or anything much pointing towards an abduction, can only leave the thought it never happened.

Sherlock Holmes once said something like " once you've eliminated everything possible, whats left has to be the answer, even the impossible. "

Yes Parental neglect has been rather over looked in this case.

Looking bad DNA wise which is putting it rather lightly.

However considering the press would probably been camping around the MCcans and flashing off cameras every time they moved surely it would have been difficult for them to get the body into the boot of the car let alone dump it..

Also where did they store it in the meantime???

Why move the body when despite intensive searching no one has found it and risk discovery???

Well, either way, they've got some hot shot attorneys lined up (just FYI, their attorney in Portugal takes 1,000€ per hour). Now guess who's going to pay the bills for all this legal machine? I'll tell you, the Madeline McCann fund. Yes, the money all those good hearted people donated to find a kid that was never abducted in the first place.
See, children disappear every day, children are removed from their parent's custody every day. It's a morbid irony that this one child who made worldwide headlines had died by parental neglection.
When a girl invents a rape that never happened, the public (at least in Israel) gets enraged, because not only the girl ruined someone's life, she also ruined it for all the girls that were and will be raped, causing them more grief with harder cross investigations to make sure they're not making this up.
the McCanns did far far worse, yet the public is still far from digesting it fully.

Speaking of digesting, maybe the dingo ate their baby?
