I think we'll end up with a Silent Night bed for around £700-£800.

Yesterday, 9am, we took a 'quick' trip back to Ikea to order the wardrobes. I figured I could spare 2 hours while the kids were at school. Got back at 13:45, having discovered that you can't 'order' anything from an Ikea store (they are strictly cash and carry) , with half the stuff in an overladen car and having been stuck in horrendous traffic. As to the stuff that wasn't in stock (including several items they thought were in stock), you can't order or reserve that. The best you can do is ring up, insist that they check the warehouse to be sure it is there then race the 30 miles to the store and hope no-one else has bought it in the meantime. Yesterday was a VERY stressful day.

Ikea is pronounced with a short 'I' in most countries. I know in the UK, for an undetermined reason, it is pronounced with the 'I' to rhyme with sky. Why? Anyway, all this is to lead up to the slogan, "Ikea makes you sickier".

Nice stuff at nice prices, but only if the experience works for you. By the time we get the rest of the stuff, assuming only one more trip is needed, we'll have covered ~200 miles and lost a day of our lives.

Still, when we previously bought some 'floating' shelves and a chest-of-drawers, it was a good experience

We drive a few rural & carefree miles to the local Ikea, get some lunch, shop & load our stuff into a Grand Caravan whose seats are folded down for the trip home. No problems

I shall steal my dad's Mondeo estate car when I go back for the mirror-glass doors.

I'll see your Mondeo with one Dodge 3500 full sized extended van, which can carry a living room or 17 passengers with the seats in

The question isn't if you're happy with it but if your girlfriend, wife, boyfriend or all of the above are happy with it

Well the final decision was a sprung divan base topped by a mattress that contains open springs, pocket springs (2100 springs in total) and topped by a layer of memory foam. We've had a couple of nights on it so far. No back pain but still adjusting to it.
