    The Wuhan Virus

It seems to be spreading 10x faster than SARS, and its transmitted before any symptoms are shown.

    Shit->Fan

Not a good day to stop sniffing glue.

I'm surprised to not see a thread on this.

Its late, and tomorrow, I'm going to see a couple of old friends in Paris, one of whom who has been in Shenzen, Beijing and Bangkok these last few weeks.
    The other from Holland.
Not seen them in nearly two years, or more for friend from Holland.

We'll see how the next 14 days go, from Sunday. :-)

    As the Klingons go :
"Today is a Good day to Die".

    And from South Park :

ATS thread on it. (Above Top Secret)

Usually Entertaining to say the least. (UFO's and stuff usually)

But very good when a Conspiracy/Virus outbreak emerges.

Specificaly from page 182 onwards, from posters "Advantage" and "TheAMEDDDOC" who seem to have some Medical Knowledge/Info.

The two links in the post above were from there.

edit : Yeah, a LOT of the other posters are a bit "Weird".
    Just use your common sense.

I think I probably had more of a chance catching something from the few Clubs we went to last night.

He was fine, and only travels 1st class anyway. Different waiting Lounges etc...
He's gone back to Bangkok now anyway.

Still, shall keep an eye out for any infections.
Paris on a saturday night is a far cry from my backwoods village on any night.

          Good resource:

Spread rate is higher due to ~8 day incubation period and death rate is also higher compared to SARS which was a nothinburger (~2% though some deaths may not be reported and deaths should be calculated from cases at the time people dying got infected).

If you're reasonably healthy and not above 80 you should be fine. However if it gets spread out (and it will), there will be inevitable panic. So you should prepare for that (have a week worth of food, vitamines, medicine, some cash, nothing beyond what is reasonable to have normally).

Talked to two Japanese living in Slovenia last week and they mentioned face masks running out in Japan and being worried.

Consider purchasing some pharmaceutical stocks. The shares of company making facemasks in Japan experienced hockey stick chart

Use masks (and perhaps gloves) in public places, wash hands frequently, don't touch eyes/nose with unwashed hands or take an illness for granted and there shouldn't be a problem.

Mask are mostly a crowd control measure; at most it reduces chances of infected people sneezing onto others, if the infected wear masks.

I'd be interested to see morbidity rate from places outside China (China and statistics are a bad combination), and if there's possible co-morbidity with COPD and other ailments to the airways (Chinese cities have terrible air quality).

Well, have a bit of crap stuck in my throat since yesterday.
My nose runs from about Oct/Nov to March/April, so i'm not too surprised.

Usually when this hppens, it drops down onto my upper lungs, and then only AntiBio's are going to get it.

Its not infected yet, still clear.
Will be keeping a good eye on it though.
If I feel any simptoms like fever or sneezing, i'll know its not the usual upper-lung infection.

Its probably about time I gave up smoking....

Every day on the train to work, there has been at least one person coughing their lungs out, with some nasty wet cough sounds.

I could hear some dude yesterday in the open space near our office coughing all bloody day.
If he was in my service I would have told him to bugger off back home and see a doctor.

People here seem the beleive that they are being "Brave" coming in to work, even though they are ill.
I tell them thats great, and what do you do when you've infected all your collegues, and most of them take time off work to recover ?

Here we have record regular flu with 500 people hospitalized and 9 dead (in 2M country), hospitals are already overwhelmed. In China 3 cities are under quarantine, a city is in quarantine in Vietnam. Fiat Chrysler factory in Serbia cut production because they don't get deliveries from China. China's economy is grinding to a halt and this will create a world-wide economic shock and there will be some inevitable panic.

The worse will pass in couple of months but it's not going to be pretty.

I think quite a few are supposed to be going back to work tomorrow, but i'm not sure how many.
                      Not all obviously.
I think they are being put to work on Masks and stuff like that though, not car parts etc...

Have seen a few more people coughing on the train, but no masks or anything yet.
Touch wood i still haven't caught anything yet.

I'm early this week so there will be a lot less people on the train at 7am.

I'm living in Singapore (many local transmissions now), life is mostly normal with some precautions at work. I'm working in Seagate here, manufacturering plants employees are not allowed to do overtime at other plants for time being unless really necessary (we have 3 plants near each other) and those working at different plants but staying together have to inform the HR department. This novel coronavirus COVID-19 is spreading more like influenza
Life is a bed of roses. Everyone else sees the roses, you are the one being gored by the thorns.

334 people have been referred to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, 5 have been tested, and 0 were positive.

As usual, the flu will kill more here than exotics - 2 kids in MI so far. 78+ kids in the US.

                            Shit is nearing the fan.

3 dead in italy, several 100 infected, 11 towns in isolation, people who leave cannot go back, people, who go in will not be able to come back. Empty shelves in Milano. Venice carnival off. Prayers in Venice churches off.

In Ukraine a bus of Ukrainian and other (Ukraine evacuated citizens of other countries, including Monte Negro) evacuees from Wuhan has been pelted with rocks and people threatened to kill them. Police had to intervene.
