The geological formation looks familiar. I don't think I've physically been there, but I'm pretty sure I've seen photos of it somewhere and somewhen. The crunch is my mind is totally blank as to where it is.

Well it looks like basalt columns as seen from below, but it ain't the giant's causeway in Ireland - the cliff is too high.

Although there is some resemblance, I don't remember it looking like that when I stayed in it. More floors and less ornate. Don't remember the little conical towers in the corners, either. That having been said, it would not surprise me if it were in that city or, at least, Viet Nam.

                          I'd say 100%

OK, it's in Danish, but the pic speaks for itself.

You're right Brian - I was doing this from memory - I knew it was somewhere in Vietnam I'd been to. It's not the Continental in Saigon, it's the Opera House in Hanoi (not the theatre ). Right next to that is the Hilton hotel, which they DON'T call the Hanoi Hilton... they call it the Hanoi Opera Hilton .

I was doing it from memory as well. The hotel we were put in in Hanoi was a crappy joint: one of the worst hotels I've been in. However, it had just installed aircon in the cells (hardly bedrooms) and this was the first time I encountered split level aircon with a zapper!!! My most memorable cultural recollection of Hanoi was the Water Puppet Show.

Yeah the water puppets were pretty cool. Also crossing roads was memorable!

I think this one goes to Brian though Your turn.
