Uwe: I use a normal antenna cable to get the signal into my Marvel, and a composite from Marvel to VCR. The composite from VCR to TV. I use no SCART, because my TV has no SCART.

Haig: Of course I haven't to use Dual Head and can use "Ausgabe zu Video Line Ausgang". (In english something like "Output to Video Line-Out"). But this has the same effect. And so I have to use one of those features to get my video on tape. Or do you know another way?
BTW I have this problem with your PC-VCR, and with all other capture-programs I tried too.

You don't have to enable anything. Just play back your mjpeg clip in SH mode without enabling any DH features and without enabling output line source in our remote's properties. Mjpeg automatically outputs during playback.

      Does this work?

Ooops - you are right. I can play to the VCR without enabling Dual Head or anything like that. But the problem is the same. I still have these ugly stripes.

I am having excatly the same problem with my G400 and have tried all of the suggested fixes on this thread. None have corrected the green lines.

          I am running an
          - ASUS p2b
          - Pentium 2 400
          - Maxtor 20GB running UDMA
          - Secondary PCI s3 video card
          - network card and PCI s3 card running on IRQ 11
          - 128 MB ram

          - Dual head is turned off

The lines appear randomly during output to TV in AVID cinema. The lines do not appear in the same place twice.

If anyone has a fix please email me brendin@dreamland.ab.ca

          thanks!

              brendin,

I have the same system as you and have no problems.
Could it be that your sharing too many IRQ's or any conflicts?
Have you updated the drivers to the latest?

              Regards,
              Elie

                Hi Brendin and Speed Pete,

do you only have one harddisc for both, the OS (Windows) and capturing ?

                Bye, Uwe.

I hope nobody minds if I join this debate but I have exactly the same problem and it is very frustrating indeed. I have tried all the fixes, driver re-installs etc.. but with no luck.

I owned a G200 Marvel and had no problems like this. The only thing that has changed in my system recently is the installation of the G400 Marvel card.

The green flashing stripes only appear when trying to either play MJPEG video to the TV/video or when I use the "output to TV line out" option for playing a tv signal on the TV. It does not happen when using dual head to watch DVD's on the TV.

                  My system is as follows:
                  PIII-500
                  Chaintech 6BTM Motherboard
                  8.4GB Prim Master HD
                  17.2GB Prim Slave HD
                  DVD
                  CDRW
                  2x Voodoo2 3d Cards
                  SB Live

                  Help!!!

4 HDD with 9GB each (Win98 is not an my capture HDD)
                    SB Live

                      more about by system...

                      - Fresh Windows 98 SE install. Applied all updates including direct x 7.0a
                      - Latest Matrox Drivers
                      - My Network card and my AGP card are sharing the same IRQ (11) I will remove the Network card and post the results here
                      - My system contains only one hard drive (20GB 7200 RPM maxtor using UDMA) Benches using matrox benchmark at 11 MB/s

I am compiling a list of people that are having this problem. If you have this problem please send an email to greenlines@dreamland.ab.ca. Describe your system in as much detail as possible. I will compile, sumarize and post the results. Hopefully together we can find a remedy.

                      Brendin

                        Test results:

I removed the Network card and still random horizontal green line flashes can be seen when playing back and MJPEG using avid cinema. I removed the secondary PCI s3 video card leaving only a sound blaster 32 and the Matrox Marvel g400 in the machine. The green lines still flash randomly and never at the same spot when the video is replayed. The green lines can be seen on the TV and on the Computer monitor in the video preview window. I have been able to reproduce the lines while stepping frame by frame through an MJPEG clip while in AVID. The lines do not appear in the same place twice so I know this is not a something in the MJPEG. While capturing video I notice the lines flashing. When I play the clip back the lines do not appear in the same place.

I have another machine I am going to try the card in. It is a ks2 450 with 128MB ram and 6.4GB maxtor hard drive. I will install windows 98 (SE) and see if it does the same thing.

I suspect the problem to be with the Matrox Video Drivers.

                        Will keep everyone posted.

What brand of hard drive is everyone using that experiences these green flashes?

Please post. I am using a Maxtor.

I have swappable HD's and it makes no difference! At present I have a Maxtor Diamond Max 17.2GB UDMA33 drive in place. The other drives are all Quantum Fireballs of differing sizes.

Out of curiosity, if you change your resolution to 1024x768 at 16 bit colour do you still have the green flashing problems?
Can you try 800x600 at 16 bit as well.

Also what I think is happening here is..
There seems to be residual drivers from previous builds still in your PC that did not get upgraded to the new version so I recommend you completely uninstall every Matrox driver whether it's Power Desk or Video Tools and don't forget the registry too.
Then you re-install only the latest drivers and tell us if this worked or not.

                              Thanks,
                              Elie

I have tried 1024x768 16bit and 800x600 16bit. I know its not a case of residual drivers as I have reinstalled windows, after formatting the hard drive 4 times, and only used the newest drivers. I have tried Windows 98 first edition and second edition and both have the same results. I am installing the card in another machine and formatting and installing windows once again. I will post my results.
