I have contacted my mole who gets me my nVidia information, and I have to say I find it very hard to believe an NV30 is in your hands in the form of a sample card, with drivers that will perform at that level, and at 13 m.

They don't have shipping samples at this time in the fashion you describe, and their clock speeds are not as high as you claim (if you divide that by two, and change the process on your sample card to .15, I would have to see no reason to not believe you have a prototype---but it doesn't perform and has not been debugged as of yet).

NV30 is still in the distance, but nVidia has a history of getting product to market when needs dictate.

I said Test sample, I never said shipping sample. Secondly, The one I played with was of both what I stated. I never said it was ready. I never said thier weren't bugs to be worked out. But the 29.xx series of drivers out right now allow for Q3A to be played quite nicely on it. Tell your mole to pray a little harder about it. Most of the techs in the lab lie about thier own mothers. What makes you think they would lie about the next card from Nvidia?

I am sorry, but I just don't believe you at all.

NV's driver scheme used for this internal card is not going by the detonator designation. They may use it when it comes out, but as of now, they are using .x designations.

My mole is very reliable and hasn't been wrong yet on his information. This is the person whom when I get information, I pass it his way and I either get a nod or a no. There is a big NO on this one, and he has given me enough details to show that you are not being truthful.

Your clock speed claim is bogus as well, I know this to be fact as of yesterday.

I just love it when people start talking trash about 0.13u Processing especially when they have absolutely no firsthand experience with it.

Sorry Logan, but you are too full of "ifs" and "maybes" to impress any of us. Maybe you can impress your AOL chat buddies but don't start talking crap about the Semiconductor business on this forum

Now, you better get back to work mopping those floors at nVidia before you get caught playing on the internet again.

How can one make the saying "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit" true when we have people with facts to bring them down to earth?

I hope for his sake he's making it all up. It's obvious he doesn't know what he's talking about, but fab status is the holiest of secrets, and I doubt anybody in a card-testing facility would know anything about yield. In the extremely unlikely event that this information did make it that far, TSMC would have sued this guy's ass out of existence.

To (hopefully) put this flame war to rest,

I tend to somewhat agree with [Ch]amsalot about the Parhelia pricing. Yes, it costs too much and most people wont be able to afford it nor it'll generate much direct revenue for [M]atrox.

BUT - Just as with CPUs, the newst strongest one always costs a premium for those who want to have it first, but as the competition gets closer and better stuff comes out (Pargelia 256) prices tend to drop.
Another issue is that the Millenium G200 didn't get [M]atrox much revenue as well. It did make a name for the chip for overall picture quality so when the G200 MMS came out, most OEMs and businesses were all over it.
Same thing will happen with Parhelia. The chip will reinforce [M]atrox's name as the best manufacturer for quality products and once a new Parhelia based RTxxxx comes out, the industry will be all over it.
Parhelia is also already kind of MMS as it allows theh use of 3 monitors with a very hight quality picture for large scale rendering and simulations.
I can assume that many organisations using simulators will be all over it as well. IMNSHO, why create a new chip for a Tank/Jet/Heli simulator when you can put in a Parhelia and get a true panoramic vision with it ?

Just my 2 cents and a hope to put the debate back on the +/- original topic.

edit: BTW, Welcome to the MURC [Ch]amsalot, I'v been a MaximumPC subscriber a few years ago, nice Magazine

Dogbert, care to guess what card made Matrox the most money?

BTW you shouldn't speculate yourself on what is or isn't profitable. You know Matrox is a privately owned company and doesn't release such information to the public. With that said I can name the card, but not the $$ figures (I wouldn't even if I did know and it's none of our business anyway
