Yes they are, but they aren't of the new design... besides the 505's are of a Hybrid design (cone midrange mixed w/ planar tweeter) instead of a pure planar design (checkout the PM-9's) and the old style sub (not as good).. the 560 aren't bad at all... but then I'd also modify the sub

    Personally I'd get a 2 sets of PM-9's and use for 4.1 setup, retail that's only $200

Greebe, I'd really be interested in knowing what to do about the sub modification of the 560.

Is there a website that provides this info; or could you provide a step by step instruction if not too difficult.

      thanks

By adding say ~20% additional internal volume the Q of the sub is lowered, thus leaving it with a lower or little to no bump in it's low end responce curve. If that isn't enough or to much undoing it isn't hard... Simply adding material to the inside be it a brick, wood scrap or dampening material will work.

Todo correctly tho would require a few tools. A frequency generator, a meter (analog or digital will work) and a decient amplifier that has a flat responce so a few measurements can be made to find the specs of the driver. With that I'll plug into a design program and comeup with the best internal volume for optimizing it and yes I can walk anyone who has the above through it.

Another mod that you could consider short of making a new enclosure would be to fill appx 40% of the internal volume with Poly-fil....giving you most of the benefits of a larger enclosure...

most are already prefilled and that's not the best recomendation K6-III.

            It takes a larger enclosure.

BTW Poly Fil is one of the worst materials to use for dampening

wouldn't work nearly as good as fiberglass (esp. Miraflex™) or wool or foam dampening material like Blackhole™ or Sonex™

Perhaps, but this was intended as a quick and cheap fix while I was shopping for a new sub....

has anybody heard the "Genius" - Home Theatre setup? of course, it's a low-end- solution, but the wooden enclosures would make small modifications easier..

only if that's the only power rating stated (normally is)

..and that's not the case: 45W + 5x 15W. would be enough for my <30m³ room, especially because the walls are quite thin.
