I'm the least you could do, oh yeah

I would still get screwed

Life is a bed of roses. Everyone else sees the roses, you are the one being gored by the thorns.

How would one go about playing UT2003 in OpenGL ? I can see an OpenGLDrv.dll file in the system folder though I don't see any option to change modes in the game options, advanced settings (~preferences) or when running the safe mode wizard.
In System/UT2003.ini, under: [Engine.Engine], comment out "RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice" and uncomment
";RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice"
Also tryed UT -since I haven't on the Radeon till now- and it runs without problems in D3D. Played a 30 frag deathmatch with the bots and no crash, in 1152x864x32 4x AA 16x (performance) AF.
ALBPM, did you delete the .ini(s) and let it configure again ?
Or you could try reinstalling the game altogether.
